Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
It does look really fun.
Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
Awesome, what system are those top boxes from? Also are there any notable tweaks between the normal ps1 version and the EA classics version?
Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
The EA game is just a re-release of the game. Its more like a "Platinum PS1 game".
The top boxes are the PC versions.
I haven't in the photo the USA PC game, and obviously not showing the symbian games too.

Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
Ah I see, just sometimes back in those days some developers would take advantage of a platinum/greatest hits re-release and tweak a few stuff since they had no means of patching on consoles. Like in Spyro year of the dragon they changed a cut-scene and fixed some audio problems. But I guess you just own it for collecting purposes which is cool
I never did play croc 2, how is it in compraision to the first?
Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
It also works as a backup disc.
If you want to learn more about Croc 2 you have two options: Watch my YouTube walkthrough, or stay tuned to the Livestream I'll make in the next days of a full walkthrough of the game in real time.

Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
Cool, I'll try to watch it!
Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
Oh but I didn't give the specific channel link where I sometimes do broadcastings live.
Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
I've never been able to beat the first game 100%. I've only played it on the psx and the levels where you have to hit the buttons that correspond with the different sheep or to move the pot and so on are practically impossible to pull off with the controller. I've come very close, but in the end I'll miss by one or so and end up with my entire console thrown on the other side of the room from the frustration.
Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
I've invented a trick when I was a kid, to confront the part of the sheeps.
I invite you to watch my PC walkthrough, it might be helpful for you.

Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
I believe I've seen your walkthrough before when I was trying to find a good recording of the gameplay to show one of my friends some time ago. I've tried the little trick you came up with, but I still seem to always miss one or two sheep towards the end. Perhaps I should just practice it more. I don't feel like that part was tested well enough before release because it really is obscenely difficult compared to the rest of the game, and they introduce it so early on.
Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
Are you playing in PC, PS1 or Saturn?
In PS1 it might be a little tricky since in my opinion the controls could have been perfected even more (I would say its a big con I have about this version). Try to use the D-Pad.

Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
PS1. There's no way to play that game with an analog stick, it's nearly impossible. The response time in the game was something I didn't start noticing until I replayed it about a year ago, but it makes it so you kind of have to predict where the sheep is going to pop up next if you don't remember the order they show up. Otherwise the only way to hit the button on time is to jump back/forward when you see the sheep pop up or you'll miss it, and when you jump it's very likely to fall off the path and accidentally run off the buttons. I've come very close many times but I only remember succeeding once.
Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
In PS1 I play the majority of the time with the analog stick, but for specific areas like Sheep/Penguin/Reaper bonuses and the cauldron bonuses, I use the D-Pad. Its a real pity that the framerate and control response aren't as good as in PC version. Try to make how I do in my walkthrough, its a method I created as a kid.

Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
Haruka actually got me into Croc, though I started with Croc 2 on the pc, and eventually bought Croc 1 for the Sega Saturn (if you're using the classic Saturn controller to play this version of the game, it's a nightmare.)
Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
I never played the Saturn version but I would like to one day. But it isn't rewarding spending money in a console just to play 2 games... and the emulators do not work. *Deadend*
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos was the first 3D platforming game I've tried, and along with Rayman it is one of my favourite heroes in gaming. He shaped my childhood and personality in an uncountable number of ways and I think its a game that deserves more attention from gamers (I think some reviews are totally bullshit and unfair, aswell the opinion of some gamers). I totally recommend giving a shot to the games, especially to people that enjoyed Rayman 2. You won't regret. Its such a gem of platforming hidden in the shadows... It not only sold millions of copies for the first game, aswell for its time it had one of the best soundtracks you could ever find back in 1997. I still nowadays love the soundtrack of CLOTG.

Re: Croc! Legend of the Gobbos
Croc 2 was given few unfair reviews, not sure why either, it was a great game, I still have yet to finish Croc 1 but I do hope to buy a pc version sometime soon.
