Re: Which country loves rayman the most?
America is a big Country- very dimwitted at that. I feel like I'm one of the only active Americans on this forum, but I am not sure. I can't go all out and flat out say "I'M THE BIGGEST RAYMAN FAN IN AMERICA"- as I said- America is big, and I could be quite surprised. My country in whole though I don't think really gave a care for Rayman too much until Origins. As for me, I would say, I *THINK* I may be the biggest Rayman fan in all of my Country, but like I said- it's a big place here so you never know- if not THE biggest fan here, then at least one of the biggest. I think France may be the country that loves Rayman the most.

Don't be so sure, just because something originates somewhere doesn't mean its point of origin has a higher density of fans.

Good point, it's hard to say, but America I know for sure CERTAINLY is probably one of the most least loved Countries for Rayman, not the least certainly not, I mean we are a BIG country, but I think in terms of the old Rayman games (which in my opinion were the best) our Country never really gave a care, until Origins being presented at E3.

I think Rayman was kindof popular here, if I recall correctly the first game is supposedly the bestselling PS1 game here.

Whenever I ask anyone in Holland about Rayman, they've always heard of him. This surprises me - maybe Dutch people just love Rayman.
Re: Which country loves rayman the most?
It kinda proves that Rayman does is known in Netherlands.

You know, I'm genuinely curious of what the distribution of Rayman fans is.
BTW, Haruka, proves. (I'm sorry!)

Fixed. I should install the spell checker on Firefox.

Re: Which country loves rayman the most?
The Netherlands is definitely one of Rayman's most popular places. And what Rayfist said is true, in North America, it seems that at least 95% of the (teenage) population has never even heard of Rayman.
Re: Which country loves rayman the most?
Whereas in Poland I have quite a few friends who aren't even gamers, yet they know Rayman or have played some of the games in their childhood.Adsolution wrote: it seems that at least 95% of the (teenage) population has never even heard of Rayman.

The Biology teacher was discussing Rain Man: " ... There was once a movie made about Rain Man..." and the whole class went "What? Rayman? A movie about Rayman?" and I have to admit it flashed through my mind too, even though I knew exactly what she was talking about. That was a fun moment.

Hmm, this reminds me of the "Divulgations of Rayman" topic, there too, did we discuss the effect Rayman had on our daily lives.
Re: Which country loves rayman the most?
I could share the PowerPoint file I created for the English class, for a work of orality. I got 18 out of 20 in it, one of the best works of the class.

I'm Dutch too. Really funny and great to see it's so popular here
I think it's strange that the RayWiki has a German version (but it's not a good one, it doesn't even have an article on Rayman Origins??!), but not a Dutch one.

I suggested making one for Humch once, but then got swamped with stuff. We could collaborate as a whole (the Dutch users, that is) and get it up and running.Robotic Teensie wrote:but not a Dutch one.

Hmm that's a nice idea. It would be too much work to do it all alone, but if we all work together the result will be greatShrooblord wrote:I suggested making one for Humch once, but then got swamped with stuff. Re: Which country loves rayman the most?
@Rayfist Here it is:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/?ue94aijb6a656k8
It originally included the Rayman 2 textfont and background musics (courtesy of Drolpiraat
). And I also noticed I included a mistake of naming the Magician as "Houdini". Aaaah!
To be honest it was a big risk for me doing an orality work about the Rayman games, since my classmates barely knew my tastes and I was under the risk of being found out on the internet among the Rayman community, but I think nobody bothered to do so and I'm glad! I also had no ideas for what to talk about in the orality work, especially knowing that the deadline for my presentation was very tight (I had to present my work in 5 days, otherwise it would be zero points), we couldn't have paper guides (this would steal points to the final mark) and this work would add a lot of points to my final mark if I succeeded on it so I couldn't miss this. I finished the powerpoint hours before the presentation and I improvised the whole speech. I even had classmates asking questions about the characters and I was explaining them (all of this in english). In the end I showed a Rayman Revolution trailer. Overall, it went fine and the teacher gave me 18 out of 20, one of the best works of orality of my class, I got very happy
. I think I only didn't have 20 because the orality took the double of the maximum time allowed
, oops!

Re: Which country loves rayman the most?
That looks like it was a fun presentation! I understand your anxiety about speaking about Rayman games, I'd be anxious too. But it was a good choice; talking about a subject that's close to your heart is always easier than talking about something that's not. With your extensive knowledge of the franchise it can't have been too hard to improvise
It sure sounds more fun than the CAE oral exam I took last year... we couldn't prepare texts for that. All we could do was practise with speaking exercises in class. Fortunately I and my best friend often speak English (even though we're both Dutch) cause we both think English is awesome

Ah! How did that go? I did it last year too - perhaps we were even in the same hall when we took it! That's a funny thought, isn't it?Robotic Teensie wrote:It sure sounds more fun than the CAE oral exam I took last year... we couldn't prepare texts for that.
