Will the barrel have the same functions as in R2?

Very well done animation for this kind of movement. However, to my mind Rayman's hands go too far after having thrown the barrel. I guess I find it a lil' weird because we are watching Rayman doing this thing when he faces us. In the games we have always watched him doing it from his back meh. :)

EDIT : I find the movement of the torso weird too. I didn't know Rayman could do this with it :P

Barrel's looking good, though I'm assuming it needs to be textured still.

Thanks for the clearing reply. There is almost no other game which you can really dream about until it is finished. I hope you will spare the background of Dark Rayman up until the near release, to keep it like the "great, unknown one". I recently thought about a secret hiding place from Ly's resistance party on and into a mountain, a mixture between those cliffy terrains with all those tunnels and wooden footbridges seen in Rayman 2 and the mountain levels in Rayman 1. A place where you can see the sunset in the evening, the stars in the night and the wide horizon of Rayman's world in all it's glory.
I thought about Dark Rayman being faint, captured and brought to this place in the end. With some time he gets more and more interested in Raven and it becomes a some-kind-of Han-Leia-Luke-relationship (Star Wars) between Rayman, Dark Rayman and Raven. After some time, Rayman gets more interested in Ly up to the relationship we see in Rayman 2 (some kind of semi-romantic). In comparison to Rayman Dark Rayman could be similar to what Shadow is in comparison to Sonic the Hedgehog. He thinks more in philosophical terms and ways and always thinks about things going around in the world like: "When Polokus has bad dreams and wants them to get vanished, what role am I supposed to be in this world? Am I an undesirable, alien element in this world or am I a reincarnation of a long last dream, condemned for a destiny which is more or less inescapable?" Rayman is more the happy and joyful character as we all know him from the previous games and his Dark twin is some kind like the missing-link of his character. I imagine both Raven and Dark Rayman sitting on a tree branch on top of the described mountain, watching the world and the sunset (similar to one of those famous paintings from Caspar David Friedrich). Some kind of a happy end up to the moment when the first invaders of Razorbeards armada arrive to this place.
I know, it sounds like it would never fit into the Rayman universe because there weren't much discussions about the world, good and bad and other things like that before. It would have to stay with the overall style of Rayman.
However, these were just some random thoughts from me, be it stupid or not...

The barrel animation looks great, I'm aware of some great flying-barrel-levels. :mryellow:

So smooth... So awesome... I really like it. I also hope we will see some barrel riding levels in this game :P

It's good but I believe that just before throwing it, Rayman's hands (while holding the barrel... so yeah, the hands AND the barrel) go a bit too far into the back? I think I'm giving a good enough description but if it isn't clear then sjust tell me.

It's a good animation already, but I think his right foot is surprisingly motionless. Try imitating him picking up something heavy yourself. To balance yourself in the throw, you'll find your right foot tilts upon the toes just a little bit, to give your whole body that little bit of extra momentum (granted that you use your left foot to step in and out like Rayman does here). For the rest, it looks smooth and amazing! The hands do go forward quite a bit, but I think that's a matter of stylistic animation - you can decide for yourself whether or not to change that.

You know, I think that this is an excellent idea, and I may just as well incorporate it. However, it won't be in quite the same way as you might think.

The tilting is definitely something I'll fix right now.

Like Shrooblord said, it's just more of a stylistic thing. I'm taking advantage of Rayman's limblessness here to give an extra bit of elasticity to his animations.

I follow the philosophy of Assassin's Creed III's animators: An animation is not complete until it looks stellar from all angles.

Or Rayman is super strong, or the carrying plus walking animation isn't ready yet. Anyway, great job!

The first part looked like some sort of crazy seizure.
Great work with that animation, though. Super smooth and unf.

I laughed so hard at the first attempt, but the second one was truly amazing! What was the map you were using in this video? Was it some sort of testing area? (Looked like Green Hill zone for me :P)

It looked like a generic test room to me, like the ones from M64 DS.

Then name of the map is 'Test,' so I think you're on the right track there.

I don't know why I'm about to explain the following, but I feel like it: My map-naming system is pretty simple. Things like Test and Menu are just named like that, whereas actual levels are labelled like 01_The_Dream_Forest, or 12_Canyon_of_the_Lost.
