Yesterday in school, we watched The wave (2008) together. It's a crazy film about a class whose teacher starts a project about dictature and somehow manage to manipulate the kids, so they following their teacher and the teacher takes a role like a dictature. Just like Hitler or Saddam. The most stupidity in the movie was as the teacher quits everything and a crazy student kills himself infront of everybody the the hall.

It is actually based on a true story. Although the scene with the crazy student at the end was added on purpose for the movie. However, it shows how it is "quite easy" to raise people against other people thanks to an ideology.

I watched the new Star Trek two days ago and I must say I was disappointed. FX, space shuffles, planets and modern London were amazing to see but beside, the story... well it's not really a story and much more of a reason to show FX and FX.
On the other side, I don't know much about Star Trek and the lack of story could be made on purpose because that's how Star Trek is.

Anyway, I'm very worried because this Star Trek was directed by J. J. Abrams who will also direct the new Star Wars trilogie. If he fucked up this one, I'll be made. Wait and see.

Man I can't believe your teacher didn't talk about The Third Wave after watching the movie. Read this Wiki page, you will grab a lot of points doing this.

I saw Man Of Steel, and while it does have loads of flaws and things that don't make sense, I would be lying if I said that I didn't like it. The script can get really repetitive, the characters aren't very fleshed out and there's a bit at the end which will probably anger fans of Superman, but the action scenes were well done and it looked stunning. I wish that I had a better reason to like it than "it looks pretty", but I'm notoriously easy to please. Call it a guilty pleasure if you will.

I liked it as well, the action was absolutely stunning. Though, to be honest, I did expect much more from the movie in terms of pacing primarily, and character development. When we only have a very brief segment of him as a kid and most of it is spent when he's a characterless bearded man, the buildup, while executed well, didn't save for as much impact as I'd hoped. Yes, Superman is the ultimate hero, but that in no way relates to him being devoid of personality, and this is very evident in Zod. From the trailers, he looked like a very menacing and complex character. In fact, the Man of Steel trailer was better and made far more sense than the finished product did.

I liked it. What bothers me though is how it could have been so much better. The trailers were absolutely brilliantly put together, and they made me feel as if it could be my favourite superhero movie - but nope.

Despicable Me 2. There's lots to say about it.

Lately, comedic animated movies haven't really made me laugh too much, at least not more then maybe a chuckle every now and then, and Despicable Me did manage that, thus making me excited to see this one. But honestly, while I thought it was an enjoyable experience, it didn't at all live up to the original and felt very inferior. A major flaw is the Minions receiving waaaaay too much screen time. And this wouldn't be too bad if they'd managed to at least keep them at a level of intelligence where you don't really mind the humour being a bit... simple, but this time they're just like the Rabbids: Doing fucking stupid things non stop and clearly showing it was easier to think of silly things that could happen too them rather then actually writing some clever script. Half the things they do really don't make any sense and it's just mindless slapstick mixed with "aww they're so cute" moments. The pop cultural references were alright, one really hit the nail perfectly, and then it suddenly throws in a (Minor spoiler alert) random set of Minions dressed like YMCA and they start dancing to the theme song. What? Why? No, dressing up the Minions like something well known doesn't automatically make it funny. They also have to, you know, do something as well.

And just like the Minions, everything from start to end is unbelievably over the top. Every character has the most extreme personality. If someone is wild, then they'll smash things and destroy everything they see. Things like that. Throughout the entire movie, I felt like this & the Minions were excuses for, once again, not really putting any effort at all into some good jokes. Cause not just the Minions get into silly situations, oh no, all of them do. How will Gru handle a birthday party?! What does he do when something goes wrong?! It's awfully predictable and what I guessed from seeing the trailers was almost 100% accurate, not to mention that you gotta go trough all the trailers right at the start of the movie. Someone who commonly visits the cinema will have the wait 20 minutes before seeing something new on screen, sadly. The climax... wasn't really there. It builds up nicely and Gru is put in a situation that makes you wonder what will happen, but it takes only about thirty seconds and nothing exciting happens.

Admittedly, I think the over the top characters and the mindless humour can be entertaining if you don't think about it too much, but this being a sequel to a movie that did allow you to think about it I felt disappointed. It's not a terrible movie, it has great visuals, fitting music, perfect voice acting, and when they do get it right with the jokes they really get it right, but there's not enough of that. It's just a really average family movie which'll spawn awesome sales for Minion merchandise, but you don't have to be an expert on comedy to know you won't be buying the DVD for this one on the release date.

Nowadays it's very rare that this isn't the case, so I think they can be ruled out.

With that in mind, I can presume it was basically a piece of shit movie? I'll be seeing it anyway, as I do with most movies that come out in theatres, but I won't go in with high expectations. I didn't like the first one a whole lot.

It's mediocre. I felt that, despite the Minions every now and then, the original was trying to be something great, while this felt like it was trying to be the spawning point of tons of merchandise and other shit. I literally had thoughts in my mind like "That'll be in the video game" or "I'll see a toy of this sometime soon".

Those minions are even going to have their own movie. Why not save their shenanigans to that?
