Hey, sorry for interrupting! Just quick question: Those of you with a PS3. I know PS2 games will not work but what about PS1?

I buy a console to play games, that's what I didn't like about the console presentations of the PS4 and Xbox one, I don't care about all this social media stuff, it's nice to be able to talk to friends during games, but SOCIAL media literally becomes the whole topic of that presentation, I play a console for games.

@Emshomar, yes they will work, which is really cool about the ps3, seeing as how old PS1 discs will play on it. :)

While the focus was mostly on the other side of things for the XOne, given that we've got E3 in a couple of weeks, I can sort of see some justification behind it.
I'm going to reserve judgement on both the PS4 and XOne until E3, where we'll learn more about things from a gaming perspective, instead of mainstream perspective.

wii-U actually already has some pretty decent titles right now- I mean yeah, obviously not a lot, but quite a good start for the system.
Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros U, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and the FREE Rayman Legends challenge app.

As for Call of Duty ghosts, it can go fuck it's self. Call of Duty stopped being innovative after Modern Warfare 1, it's the same re-hashed shit again and again.

Indeed, but I tend to invest in "next-gen" consoles in mid to end-cycle, seeing as that's when most of the kinks have been smoothed out and the libraries are more easy to survey.
Alternatively, I could always attempt to join the PC gaming crowd and see where that takes me.

You guys can have fun with most of your next gen consoles, I think I'll be sticking to wii-U and PC.

As for the rest... vintage gaming is the way to go for me :) I still LOVE my Super Nintendo to this day, it's my best belonging and I still buy games for it.

I'm not even sure how to pronounce it. I think it's supposed to be [eks won] but I'm going to be purposefully annoying to them and refer to it as a [zone].

I'll probably only get it if my Xbox 360 decides to die. Or maybe maybe if a new Halo installment comes exclusively for it - but then probably one of my close friends will get the console for that reason and I can play it at their's (lol moocher, much).

Wii U has a social network... but it is still focused on gaming. I finally understand why Nintendo refused to use this facebook bullshit for their console. Heck, even the TV app isn't that important for Wii U.

I guess I finally know what console I'll stick to. One that still cares about innovative gaming experiences and not just pretty apps.

I never used the TV app once.
See what wii-U did was phenomenal. I don't care for a Facebook app, or any other thing like that.
Being able to converse about a specific moment in the game and screenshot anything with a comment or picture aside from it is pure genius if you ask me, though I suck at drawing, haha.

There have been some articles post-unveiling stating things such as pre-owned restrictions, or that the Xbox One needs to be connected once a day to the internet.

Considering what the XBox 360 has offered, I don't think the new one is gonna be anything of great interest. I think I might pick up a PS4 when it eventually gets a good price drop but I can't really judge because there's so little known about it yet.

So I went out today after piano lessons to see if me and my Dad could find any interesting arcades... nothing. There are seriously no good arcades here in Massachusetts... I'm dying to find a Tekken, Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Ghosts 'n Goblins, heck ANY good beat em up or fighting game that I grew up with in the 90's. All the games the arcades have now are just motorboat racing, nothing of my interest, I want to see the Capcom classics :(

Some specs state that the restriction against used games is there. You put the game in the console, then it's installed with an internet connection, and and then you don't need the disk anymore. If you're gonna give your game to someone, that person must pay a fee in order to install it a second time in another console.

Not as bad as not being able to even play the game, but it's still pretty fucking bad.

Oh, also, no retrocompatibility.

It amazes me to see that people can amass bookshelves of video game content, the most games I've owned at any one time is about 11.

I nearly have enough to have a huge bookshelf like that in the background of my room, however... I don't have a bookshelf :(

Now like most people said we can't judge the Xbox one fully because it isn't out yet, but as far as I've seen... oh my god *pukes*
Why? Having to be online at all times? REALLY? What if you can't afford internet? Hell, I know some poor people with no internet who DO happen to own 360's. This is outright bullshit, even longtime fans are calling them out on it, Microsoft if you know what's good- seriously ditch that 'always online' bullcrap. I hope you're fucking happy Adam Orth, it's the 'always online' dream you've been wanting. Like I said I know we can't fully judge it, but at least so far from what I've heard, not good at all, don't think I heard a single good thing about it. Bad first impression. I really hope Microsoft is reading feedback from others, and I hope at E3 they'll talk about games and not this NFL bullcrap.

Well, I don't wanna judge because I don't know anything about but knowing Microsoft's past I've been expecting everything about this console to be pretty fucking bad since first announced. XBox 360 has a poor library of games with very few interesting exclusives, advertised the Kinect which sounded awesome but was terrible, and the console seems to have so many problems. Friend of mine bought two of them and both broke after a year or so. Then he gave up and got a PlayStation 3.

A poor library the 360 has indeed. I prefer the PS3 over it because it had one thing I wanted... games. After spending 2 years with a 360 and than purchasing a ps3... I was in heaven... gaming heaven they had... games, GAMES. I get a console for games, not social media, not sports, not fucking television, and CERTAINLY not the Kinect which was god awful. Microsoft DESTROYED Rareware also- killed one of the best franchises Banjo Kazooie, and they wouldn't even let Rare make a sequel to Conker. I wish Rare was back with Nintendo, so crappy to see the horrible position they are in now with Microsoft. :(

No it fucking wasn't. Kinect works fantastically, there are just no games that make remotely good use of it. As a dashboard navigator, it feels incredibly high-tech; I'm literally able to flick through the menus at lightning speed just by raising my hand and flicking my hand/fingers around. It works like a charm. If they continue to use it for simpler things like that, it will likely integrate into other devices as a motion-based controller as well, and there's a very good chance it will pioneer the first holographic control panels.

I don't think many people realise how innovative Kinect actually is. People are so stubborn and unwilling; they think that if it ain't broke, it shouldn't be fixed, and they wouldn't know 'revolutionary' if it skewered them in the eye. It may come across as a gimmick due the god-awful (and not very many) games developed for it, but I see it as something much, much more practical.
