Re: Rayman 1
Wow... 30 continues? 10 hitpoints? I could use that on the PC

I'll post them tomorrow if you don't mind, it is a bit late now.
Re: Rayman 1
Thanks for pointing out the differences Haruka-Chan. I wish I can purchase it, but I must stay offline on my 3DS because I am planning to enable homebrew one day on it and enable Region Free option like I did on every other console I own. It was confirmed that I must stay on firmware 4.5 or else I will never be able to install homebrew. Well only thing I need to know is what game is exploit but nobody knows it as of now.Haruka wrote:I managed to purchase Rayman 1 for DSi today, and trying out a little. I've played only the Pink Plant Woods level but these are the differences I've noticed so far:
- You can insert up to 4 letters in the file name
- You start with 30 continues
- The intro is relatively similar to Rayman Advance's one
- The music tracks are swapped for some reason, I just listened the Picture City music in the Magician's challenge oO
- You start with 6 health points
- When you catch the "P", your health points increase to 10
- The cage locations seem to be from the PC version
- Most of the sounds seem to be taken from the PC version, while a minority is simply sounding wierdly different
- You have achievements in the game, but they are easy if you can beat the game without spending a continue
- When you take a photo in a Photographer checkpoint, the word "SMILE!" appears and your DSi/DSi XL/3DS/3DS XL will take you a real picture of your face
- In the touch screen, you have a sepia coloured map of the level part you're playing, with the locations of Rayman, the exit sign and the Photographer checkpoints. You can scroll around the map with the stylus

Re: Rayman 1
I wasn't aware of all these changes, thanks for letting us know, Haruka.
Is it ok if I whinge a little on how gimmicky and pointless it is to have your picture taken at every checkpoint? Is there really any point?

Re: Rayman 1
Really, indeed.
I recall there being a map of the level at the bottom screen, is it of any practical use, or is it mere decor?

Yep. It's the stupidest, most embarrassing, and most annoying feature I've ever come across in any game I've played.Minor-T5 wrote:XD Really?Haruka wrote:- When you take a photo in a Photographer checkpoint, the word "SMILE!" appears and your DSi/DSi XL/3DS/3DS XL will take you a real picture of your face
Re: Rayman 1
It is true, the camera takes you a real photo.
Oh and also, I forgot to put this in the list: in the touch screen, you have a sepia coloured map of the level part you're playing, with the locations of Rayman, the exit sign and the Photographer checkpoints. You can scroll around the map with the stylus.
I'll add more details when I progress more in the game. I only have to complain about the price, I had to pay 7,99€, which I honestly find it too much but neither Nintendo or Ubisoft ever changed the price since the thing got released in DSiWare.

Re: Rayman 1
Taking picture of my face while playing would be awesome for me at least. I could do all funny faces and when I record for YouTube I could show my face on checkpoint. I am purchasing the Rayman DSi the first day I can go on eShop when I install homebrew on 3DS one day

Lol, sounds like fun to me.Adsolution wrote:Yep. It's the stupidest, most embarrLOLing, and most annoying feature I've ever come across in any game I've played.
And also, thanks for the info Haruka, I never knew about that.

Re: Rayman 1
That always annoyed the FUCK out of me. Me and my friend Chris were laughing our ass off, my friend Chris hates having photos took of him, so right when he reached the photographer he split like a fucking banana and just threw his dsi on the ground or avoid looking at it, it was fucking hilarious, we had a good laugh from that.Adsolution wrote:Yep. Re: Rayman 1
I wouldn't mind it once or twice, but it would get annoying real fast.
While checkpoints are more sparse compared to your average platformer, I'd think they'd be numerable enough to make the photographing annoying, however, each to their own.OldClassicGamer wrote:Taking picture of my face while playing would be awesome for me at least. Just make sure that the faces you make aren't cringe-worthy to the public.OldClassicGamer wrote:Taking picture of my face while playing would be awesome for me at least. Re: Rayman 1
I played once Rayman 1 from the DSi Ware Store (?) It just annoyed me when I go to the photographer to save the game. It wasn't possible to reduce that freakin' sound effect. Even when my old 3DS was muted.

Re: Rayman 1
The camera would be a problem if I were to record a walkthrough on YouTube, I dislike taking pictures of myself. I believe I would need to wear a mask or censoring the picture frame content.

Re: Rayman 1
What about just covering the camera with blu-tac or something?
