Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Honestly I'm not a fan of the character design, though I've explained that before, just my preference.
Also that Sonic Boom link you posted Brawler doesn't work for my country sadly. But I saw the game trailer, seems they are taking this rather far, I can't judge the gameplay, but I'm already seeing incoming bad reviews for reasons.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Animation and writing wise, I'm impressed, I thought they were going to go in a "Teen Titans Go" route, I'm thankful they didn't. Character design wise,

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
My opinions on the character designs are pretty much this:
Sonic, Tails, and Eggman actually look really cool. I always wanted to see Sonic with a cute little scarf, and I always wanted to see Tails with aviator goggles and stuff. Seeing them in the show's trailer won me over completely. Eggman looks akin to his Sonic Riders design, and has a fancier mustache. Which is fine. Familiar, yet different. And it's Eggman. Eggman can't fail at being entertaining! :V
Amy really just has a new outfit, which isn't anything jarring. She has had a bunch of different outfits. This is just another one. She has questionable facial expressions in all of her renders though...
Knuckles' design concept is cool, but the execution is all wrong. I hope he looks better by the time we see him in motion. He actually looks alright in the concept art, though.
And honestly, I'm actually kinda excited. I feel that, knowing this is it's own sub series, it won't be too big a deal if I don't like it, as I always have Japanese Sonic. So I can cut loose a bit. I am excited for the show. The trailer was legitimately funny (the false advertising joke had me laughing pretty hard actually), and it looks beautifully animated, on par with the likes of Disney's Frozen. Which I haven't seen yet, but it looks beautiful too. I could not help but think of Frozen when I saw this Sonic Boom trailer.
As for the game, I'm cautiously optimistic. I never trust the first trailer for a Sonic game, but hearing about the development team and it using CryEngine 3 gives me hope it will at least be a fun thing to hold me over until the next Japanese Sonic game. It seems like they are putting effort into it, and not just being lazy, and it looks beautiful. So yeah, let's not sing doom and gloom, this could be good. And if it isn't, we always have Japanese Sonic, and he will be on all 3 next gen platforms.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Wait, wait, wait, hold up. Sonic Boom: The Game is using CryEngine 3? Huh.
Hm, as I said before, I'm not that fussed by the redesigns either, I think I only have gripes with Knux, for the same reason you said, and...well, Eggman. Maybe it's just the whole ears and how his glasses have become complete lenses covering each of his eyes, but there's something about it that doesn't quite resonate with me. Or maybe I'm just a little too fond of the Adventure Eggman design, I don't know.
I'm actually looking forward to seeing how this all turns out, I think the game itself needs a bit of work, as those models look horrid, but having a Co-Op Sonic game might work out for the best. As for the cartoon, I'm still adjusting to Sonic, his 2D concept seems fine, but in 3D, ehh...it feels a little off at the moment.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I'm excited for this new cartoon! The animation budget looks above average for television, and it's pretty funny to boot!
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Knuckles looks like he's fucking photoshopped.

It looks like they cut out his head and pasted it onto... that. I don't like it, even in the game he just looks off and weird.

Knuckles skipped leg day.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I've got to admit something, the graphics of the TV show look really cool. Now... is Knuckles taking steroids or what?
Also, I think Sonic envies Rayman's way of dressing now. *Just joking*

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic's scarf reminds me of Nathan Drake's scarf in Uncharted. Makes sense considering Bob Rafei is involved.

I'm not really into Sonic, but this game looks pretty good!

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Using the Cryengine 3, huh? Wonder what Ad would think of that. Also the game actually looks rather neat, I like the environments.
God damn it, Knuckles just looks so out of place though.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I checked an old show case video for the Cry Engine 3 from back in 2012, and it turns out Sonic Boom's environments were shown off at the start of it (Big Red Button are also listed at that part of the video). So this game has been in development since at least then.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I just cannot believe that Naughty Dog staff are involved with this Sonic Boom game...

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
There is a new Sonic in town that I have to account for though. :V
Also, apparently SEGA is sitting on a lot of cash right now. And Lost World is considered to be doing "OK" instead of "terrible" in the sales department right now.

I'm not into Sonic either but at least I appreciate the TV series trailer. The game though, I found Sonic's model a bit wierd at a point.Bradandez wrote:I'm not really into Sonic, but this game looks pretty good!

So you will check out episode of it when released?Haruka wrote:I'm not into Sonic either but at least I appreciate the TV series trailer. The game though, I found Sonic's model a bit wierd at a point.
I know I will. I am however skipping the game since I really did not like trailer.
Show has potential though.
