Re: Rayman 1
Bradandez, may I ask, why do you dislike Rayman 1?
Re: Rayman 1
It's not fluid as the recent games, which I love the controls of Origins/Legends. I'm not fond of the character design. The things I really like are the worlds and its music. I can't say I'm of the gameplay either. Oh and the ending... that ending... ugh...

So, like, three non-dorks then?Bradandez wrote:And the only people who defend it are a bunch of dorks.technology4617 wrote:The only people who say this suck terribly at the game.Bradandez wrote:My Record Day Review of Rayman 1:

But, ye, I agree that Rayman 1's mechanics aren't quite as well fleshed-out as that of Origins/Legends, but for the time, it was fucking good, and it still holds up pretty well against modern platformers like Origins/Legends in my opinion, though the mechanics are quite different. Personally, I find its mechanics more natural than that of Origins/Legends, even if they're less reliable, and have them down pretty well.

Re: Rayman 1
I can't see why, because I am not a fan of R1 and I am certainly 100 percent not a dork.

Ye, you're one of the happy three.
Re: Rayman 1
Perhaps you just need to, you know, be GOOD at the game to enjoy it?

OR! It's gameplay should have been tested more and should have not used continues if it had a save feature already!RibShark wrote:Perhaps you just need to, you know, be GOOD at the game to enjoy it?

Re: Rayman 1
Because games should be fucking easy and have no challenge whatsoever. Basically every death in the game is your own fault, and not a result of poor mechanics, so deal with it. Really, stop touting your opinion as though its common knowledge, especially as you're really in the minority here.
My honest rating for it would be, like, an 8.5/10 - it's fun 'n' challenging 'n' videogamey 'n' shit.
Pros: Excellent controls, fantastic atmosphere, great art design, solid base mechanics (if you aren't inept at platform games), great sound design, great music, fun level design (usually)
Cons: Gay momentum, generic story

I see what you mean, in fact, I agree to some extent. Except for the "I'm not fond of the character design" bit. Ouch, man. I adore the character design.Bradandez wrote:It's not fluid as the recent games, which I love the controls of Origins/Legends. I'm not fond of the character design. Re: Rayman 1
Honestly, neither did I at first! In fact, I've never been a fan of huge, bulgy eyes on anything. When I first played Rayman Advance back in two thousand and something after playing Rayman 3 GBA for ages I was like "What the heck why are they so ugly looking" but now I just adore the Rayman 1 style. No clue why, really.Bradandez wrote:Whoops, sorry. I'm not fond of those big, bulgy eyes.THEdragon wrote:I see what you mean, in fact, I agree to some extent. Re: Rayman 1
I mean, the only characters that I do like the designs for in Rayman 1 have to be the Magician and Mister Dark.

I like the art style in general, but the environments more than the characters.

Re: Rayman 1
Going back to R1 after binging on Origins and Legends can be quite hard due to the difference in mechanics.
Re: Rayman 1
Tell me about it.
Re: Rayman 1
It was mentioned in the Revenge of the Dark topic that Rayman 1 is a very atmospheric game, and it 'feels huge'. That got me wondering, how big would the Valley be? And what size would the six 'worlds' within it be?
Re: Rayman 1
Rayman 1 is best and Brad is WRONG.
