Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Why do you assume Nintendo is "avoiding" third-party? You do realise that the lack of third party support on Wii U is down to the unwillingness of multi-platform developers/publishers to develop/publish for Wii U, right?Rayfist wrote:Anyways, a long time ago I talked about how Nintendo avoiding third party was a bad thing, and this video perfectly sums up what I was trying to say, it's a really interesting video.
I mean, the 3DS has PLENTY of third-party/multi-plat support. The reason why 3DS does and Wii U doesn't is because 3DS has a massive install base, while Wii U has yet to have a satisfactory one for the AAA publishers (and there was some falling out between Nintendo and certain companies. EA, for example, fell out with Nintendo because Nintendo refused to support the idea of EA Origin on Wii U). And in some cases, the Wii U hardware can't handle a direct port of a game, and the developers are not willing to downgrade (note Ubisoft's recent statement).
You can observe the same situation with Sony - PS4 has tons of third-party support, Vita doesn't. In fact, Vita barely has first-party support, which is something the Wii U has, at least.

Maybe that wasn't the right choice of words, I mean why no third party for Wii U is a bad thing.sonicbrawler182 wrote:Why do you assume Nintendo is "avoiding" third-party?
Can't respond to the rest right now as I have had a major conflict with a friend on STEAM that's been irritating me all day.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Don't know if you guys saw yet, but today's Smash Bros website update was pretty amazing:

"Pic of the day. The 3DS version has an excellent Sounds collection! The design looks nice for a sound test screen, doesn't it? The font color for the "Remix" text on remixed songs comes in pink or white. The pink ones are songs arranged for this version of Super Smash Bros., while the white ones are remixes made in earlier Smash Bros. games. This means there are reoccuring songs from past releases."

"Choose your songs and play with features on the bottom screen. You can listen to character voices, too. One of the new highlights for this feature is the "Play in Sleep Mode" option in the upper right. If you turn this on, you can listen to the tracks with your headphones even when your Nintendo 3DS is closed. The L and R Buttons will let you skip tracks. This means you can use it as a portable music player. Enjoy listening to the tracks you love by putting all songs in loop, shuffle, or selecting your favorite tracks!!"
"In Smash Run, the background music plays randomly from the songs you select from the track list. This means you can customize your own song lineup!! Usually each stage has two tracks-which makes for a lot of songs on its own-but as a bonus, we've added more songs for you to enjoy in Smash Run and in the Sounds area."
"By the way, here's another music announcement!! You can now listen to some of the tracks on the official website. We're planning to add more tracks a little at a time, so stay tuned."
http://www.smashbros.com/en-uk/music/
I've also created MP3's myself that you can download if you wish. I also made a looped version of Multi-Man Smash that I have ready for download too (will make loops of the other two tomorrow):

I hope this doesn't come of as rude, but why do people want the Chorus Guys to be in Smash? What do they have to offer that's new?

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I haven't played Rhythm Heaven myself, but I can see why people want the Chorus Kids. For starters, a character with a rhythmic moveset sounds pretty unique, and they also would represent a franchise that has yet to be in Smash, aside from the Sneaky Spirits in Smash Run.Bradandez wrote:I hope this doesn't come of as rude, but why do people want the Chorus Guys to be in Smash? Re: Official Nintendo Topic
As far as rhythm based characters go, Harmo-Knight (I think that's his name) jumps to mind before anyone else, for me, since rhythmic fighting was what his game was all about. I'd like to think he could at least be an Assist Trophy.
I'm just glad Bowser Jr. is confirmed, so people will stop whining about how Rosalina "stole his spot" (though I do really like what they've done with him regardless of that).

Rayman wasn't confirmed. Fuck this game. I want my money back!
Nah, but I have yet to find these "leaks". I'm really curious to see how Bowser Jr. plays.

Here you go Brad.
@SonicBrawler
I think a Rhythm Heaven character would be the ideal choice for a rhythm based character, Rhythm Heaven is a well known and popular series after all.

I can't believe Link will be DLC in MK8 but not Pac-Man. Damn it.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Nintendo just announced two new DLC packs for Mario Kart 8.
The Zelda Pack will come with Link, Cat Peach, and Tanooki Mario as new characters, 8 courses, and 4 vehicles.
The Animal Crossing Pack will come with Villager, Isabelle, and Dry Bowser as new characters, 8 courses, and 4 vehicles.
Each pack will be priced at £7.00 in the UK, or around $11.60. As a bonus for purchasing both packs - as a bundle or separately - you can get eight different-coloured Yoshis and eight different-coloured Shy Guys that can be used right away.
Zelda Pack is coming this November, and the Animal Crossing Pack is coming May 2015.

Wow today is a really good day for Nintendo related news, first Pokken, now this. The DLC better be cheap though.

To be fair, it's a good deal, considering all they are giving.
But we now have 4 versions of Mario and 4 versions of Peach, which is kinda overkill. At the least, I wish it was Tanooki Luigi and Cat Rosalina, to even things out.

I don't know how to feel about this, Link feels out of place. :/

Needs moar Kirby.
Seriously though, it's nice seeing MK8 expand like that, finally breaching the franchise borders.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
You can already purchase the packs, and if you buy both, you can use the alternate Yoshi and Shy Guy colours right away:

Also the Mercedes-Benz DLC is out, for free, too.
GLA Tires do not affect stats; same stats as Standard.
GLA has the same stats as the Steel Driver, Tri-Speeder, Badwagon, and Standard ATV.
W 25 Silver Arrow has the same stats as the Pipe Frame, Standard Bike, Flame Rider, Varmint, and Wild Wiggler.
300 SL Roadster is an aesthetic vehicle body; its stats are the same as the Standard Kart.
Also, they've raised the VR cap. You can now get beyond 9,999 VR in Global/Regional Races and Battles.
And the game's online seems more stable than before, they weren't lying when they said they would improve the online experience.
