I haven't necessarily been playing this game, but has anyone seen Five Nights At Freddy's 2? Aside from it improving on the original in every way and looking like a much more engaging experience, FNAF2 has some really rich story behind it. If you're unacquainted with the story surrounding FNAF then I recommend going over here and watching that. The story around the new one is so confusing. There's the new animatronics but then there's also the old ones, the puppet, the child and the minigames between levels. There's so much to be discovered here it's crazy.

I haven't played either fnaf or the sequel, seeing as I'm the biggest wuss alive with severe anxiety issues and I can be really scared quite badly by most jumpscares, but I really do have to agree with you the story is really quite something, and the way its told to us is even better.
[from what I know for sure the sequel is actually a prequel, taking place before the bite of '87 and before the murders of the five children. What I'm not so sure about but what seems to make sense is that the marionette is pretty much the primary antagonist of the whole series, seeing as one of the atari style mini games has us taking control of it to build the other animatronics, this gives me the idea that the marionette is somewhat sentient or perhaps being controlled by or is the source of a dark, evil power that's corrupted both the 'old' and the 'new' animatronics causing them to do what they do, including the bite of '87 and perhaps even the child murders. Sometime either after the end of fnaf 2 or perhaps even during it, the bite of '87 and the murders happen, leading to management wanting to relocate to another venue, the palce were fnaf 1 is set. They decide to take the old animatronics and refurbish them, leaving the toy animatronics behind, and balloon boy, but we're not sure what happened to the marionette, what I think is if the animatronics in the first game are still under its influence, then it's still in the building of the first game, but the only place it would be likely to be there is either a blind spot were our camera's couldn't see, or is hiding in the kitchen, were we could hear the audio but the video was disabled.]
and about the easter egg's adn all the hidden stuff in the sequel, yea, there's an absolute metric ton of secrets, and some are still being discovered and or added in patch note-less patches, of course there's the atari mingames, there's the randomly apprearing close ups of the animatronics, there are also two secret animatronics, the endoskeleton and shadow/ghost bonnie

But as I said, I'm not playing fived nights at freddy's, in fact, right now I would be playing Warlords of Draenor, but... yea, launch day lag, connection issues and being alliance on a server thats 96% alliance doesn't help... so instead whilst I wait for Blizzard to at least somewhat improve the situatiom I've been playing more Borderlands and some Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, which is an excellent game..

FNAF is just another game to thrown onto the pile of lazy media that didn't have any deeper thinking than "well, i could attempt to actually create some horror... or i could do a fuckton of jump scares which are guaranteed to work!". Jump scares are uncomfortable, recycled, and just not fun. It doesn't build any atmosphere or anything, it's just a quick scare until the next one, and it loses its charm very quickly. FNAF feels a lot like Slenderman, a game that also pretty much lost its abillity to scare me as soon as it became clear that it only knew like 3 different ways to do a jump scare and was going to repeat it until the last second of the game.

I couldn't have put it better myself.

To anyone who's willing to provide an in-depth answer, what do you find so utterly frightening about the game? You know exactly what's coming, and by this point, when it's going to happen; all the scares are identical to one-another. Do you find it scarier than games like Outlast, Silent Hill, or the original Resident Evils, and have you even played any of those games? What is it about FNAF in particular that you find so extraordinary? Have you simply never played or seen anything horror-themed before, and given that FNAF became an internet phenomenon, you have to play it, and it's your first, so you're naturally more afraid?

And before anyone goes all "Yeah, you aren't scared easily, I get it", consider that this isn't dissimilar to saying "we get it, you're fun, now let us be boring". I'm not relating that analogy to real life, but it makes about as much sense as what it's analogising. I feel like the lot of you who shit your pants over this game are either extremely naïve or have never experienced any kind of horror medium before. I'd like to think otherwise, which is why I'm genuinely curious. And for those who find the story extraordinarily, fascinating, I honestly have no idea what to think.

Heh, You're one of the most interesting persons I've ever met Ad, I can't figure out if knowing you is a pleasure, or a pain, I can't decide whether I love you, or despise you. Please, awful love, guide me.

That got weird, back on topic:

How are you finding it? I've only heard good things about it really, and watching some gameplay the gather system really looks interesting,

I'm not sure how to feel about that!

Though, I was kind of hoping you'd be one of the people who could enlighten me somewhat.

Well, yeah. :P

I completely agree with you, though; while I find the game interesting and enjoyable, I have no idea why people are going so far as to tout it the only good horror game, especially when most of those people haven't any experience with any others.

First of all I don't care whatsoever for the jumpscares in FNAF. I think they're cheap as Keane said and they lose their effect very quickly. My interest in the game has nothing to do with the horror element.

The original FNAF did a decent job of forcing you to multitask and keep everything in check. FNAF2 takes that and amplifies it and I love that idea that you have a lot of things to consistently manage, as well as keeping an eye out for the less common occurrences and managing your power source. I like the idea that it'll throw you into panic when you're scrambling to do everything. (Although I can admit that it has a level of randomness to it that can screw you over at times.)

The other half of my interest for the games lies in the story. It might not be an extraordinary one, but it's a curiously presented one. It leaves a lot up to the imagination and gives you little hints to put together, like you're solving a big puzzle. I like that it has ties to real world events and uses them to build upon its own story. I find it infintely more compelling than Slenderman ever was, because with Slender man really the only mystery was who or what he is. But that's never explained. It's never even hinted at. All we know is he's an 'evil entity' and the games are content with leaving it at that. FNAF wants to tell you the story behind the machines, but it wants to tell you cryptically.

While FNAF might not be for everyone, there's definitely more to it than meets the eye.

Friend picked up a 4-pack of Insurgency recently and we played a little bit. It's definitely a different experience.

So far so good. Pier Solar isn't turning out to be the most amazing RPG just because it's a homebrew one, but it's decent. Right now I'm attempting a "mandatory battle only" run on my bf's PS3 since one of the trophies calls for it and it's proving to be tough. What's great about it for sure is how you can switch from the HD graphics and music to the original 16-bit on the fly for most of the time, since I ended up missing out on the original Mega drive version it gives the player a good taste of both.

Rented Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric.

I'll take back what I said about the game being bad as 06.

With that said, it's still pretty bad.

Playing a lot of Far Cry 3. I played it way back but never got around to finishing it. Unlocking the wingsuit has definitely made the game a lot more fun!
