"Rayma" is a "Luma" pun.

And yeah, that was intentional, Rayman is a known perv. :P

I listened to the GameXplain discussion, and uuuuuuuuuuggggggh.

I'll come out and say it:

If Mega Man and Pac-Man deserve a place in Smash, so does Rayman.

Rayman may not be as old as the others, but Mega Man hasn't had a game in years, and Pac-Man may as well not exist anymore what with Ghostly Adventures being such mediocre drivel. Rayman at least has had some games lately, and said games have been well received to boot.

And if people are OK with Lucina being in the game, and being the biggest clone since Dr.Mario, then they have no place complaining about Rayman, since he'd ACTUALLY add something to the game.

I haven't even watched the video yet, and already I''m pissed off by some of these ignorant comment's saying Rayman isn't worthy because of shit Ubisoft has done with Nintendo and in particular the wii U, I probably should watch the video first, but honestly, I think that a character entering smash should be judged solely on the character themself, what they could bring to the roster that will make the game more interesting, not the company who owns the character and their history with Nintendo, even though that would make more sense from a business perspective.

Quite frankly, I think Rayman is far more smash Bros worthy than, and I don't mean to start a fight here or upset anyone, Sonic. Don't get me wrong I want Sonic to do well, I want his games to do well, the noisy part (aka the bad part) of his fandom can go fuck a duck for all I care, but i do like Sonic and I'm glad he's in smash bros, but I don't think he's worthy to be there. My reason for saying this is because of one simple fact, he's fast.

Thats it.

He's only fast, and the reason that's a problem is because, in his own game's he's only fast too, and when you think about it from a game play standpoint in a sonic game, sonic is the worst character, because there are other characters like tails and knuckles who can be just as fast as Sonic, but they also have their own abilities, like knuckles is strong, and tails can fly, so why is Sonic smash worthy but not other characters from his games? I understand perfectly that he's the mascot of his company and his franchise yes, but frankly he's not a good character for a fighting game, I know a lot of the characters in smash bros when you think about it logically wouldn't be good characters for a fighting game, but Sonic sticks out like a sore thumb to me because... he's just fast, That's it. Rayman is fast, he's strong and he can hover, and sometimes fly. He's perfect for a fighting game. Not to mention, in my opinion at least, excluding generations, Sonic hasn't had a great game since sonic 3 & Knuckles, maybe i would say since Sonic Heroes if I was in a good mood but 'm not so tough shit. Rayman has never really had a bad game, at least main game wise, even the original Rabbid trilogy was good, not good Rayman games, not by a long shot, but not bad games in general.

But it's a youtube comment section, its a cesspool that deserves to burn in buckets of hellfire, what was I expecting?

I need to calm down a bit before I watch the video so, here are some of my own photo manipulations of that Trophy whilst I go do something to cool off.

Pretty sure we talked about that interview sometime last year and came to the conclusion he was probably talking about sales figures for Legends, but maybe he is, we can dream.

Well, your free to think what you want, but if I was you, i wouldn't get your hopes too high,if he isn't playable, then that disapointment you'd undoubtably feel probably can't be too good for your mental health. Though I'm not you so maybe you'd take it pretty well, I'm not sure.

Imagine if Rayman was playable in Smash though, every time he got hit he'd make the same expressions he does in Origins/Legends.

Remember, they're trying to represent both sides, to come up with potential reasons as to why he would or wouldn't be able to make it in. I found the video to be a nice listen, somewhat enlightening and obviously a simple subjective discussion.

It's not that, it's just that a lot of their points in that particular video are based around the same, irrelevant drivel that I hear all of the time in character discussions on Smashboards (seniority, popularity, recent relevancy, etc). Sakurai has been clear about the fact that the only two things that he really looks for in potential characters, third party or otherwise, are if they could bring new play styles, or if they add to the atmosphere of the game in some way. And then there are the clone characters that are just there to beef up the roster without too much work (in the time it takes to implement a unique new character, he could implement six clones - this is one of the reasons why King Dedede was not in Melee, as originally planned).

Rayman ticks both boxes perfectly - a lot can be done with his lack of limbs, and he would be the first Smash Bros character that wasn't created in Japan, which would really add to the celebratory atmosphere of the game (and there aren't any other third party characters that are as historically important or beloved as him that could fit that role - that aren't more strongly associated with or outright owned by Microsoft or Sony, of course). I'm not saying he's particularly likely, but there really shouldn't be any debate over whether or not he is worthy, and he certainly wouldn't be an offensive addition.

Oh, and don't be worried about Jigglypuff, she's part of the original 12, they're not going anywhere. Jigglypuff has never been announced before the Japanese release of past Smash Bros games either, and has always been unlockable.
