It's acid that the rope saves you from, because the slime is way below the rope, and you don't bounce on the slime, but on the rope. 
Oh well, anyway... I didn't go to school today because I am ill, but I did work on MotDS... some music tracks have been replaced and some added ( reminds me that I still have to add some ) to fit with the modified storyline ( it has pirates now! ).
Anyway, I can't tell you some story elements I have been thinking up today ( it would have major spoilers ), but I'll tell you one thing: You're all going to like it. Very. Much. ^^
EDIT -> The carrying system is done ( Yay for carrying plums! ). If you want to know, the throwing system is exactly the same as R2's. You can throw something upwards ( and catch it again if you didn't move too much ) or forwards. Tomorrow I'll start working on the ladder climbing system.

Anyway... I didn't work on the climbing system yet, but I have been coding a system that makes the player able to stand on a plum.
All of its bugs are now fixed, and it's so well-made now that you can actually put several other characters ( moving/non-moving ) on one plum, and then you can go off the plum, take it in your hands, carry it around, throw it into the water ( where the plum stops moving vertically and floats ^^ ), and all characters will stay on it all the time ( except when you throw it upwards - then the plum is too fast for the characters to stay on the plum ).
I'm now fixing the last moving platform bug, and after that, I'll start on the climbing system ( I've done some things already though - like the 'climb' variable and in which cases you should stop climbing, for example when you jump )...
EDIT -> YAY. The last moving platform bug is fixed, and moving platforms seem to work perfectly now. Finally! ^^
And now, I can finally start working on something else... the climbing system!

Actually, I don't know how does your game production software works, but easiest way for climbing, complicated landscape, moving platforms, plums et caetera in, err, "normal" languages is to make player object "owned" by rope, plum etc. object. I mean, player (or friend) object contains a pointer to something. When it is nulled, typical colision runs. When the other object (rope/plum/etc.) detects that player/friend are going to (land on/catch/etc.) them, they make pointer pointing for themself, and when player/friend subroutine execute, it finds pointer not nulled and a special subroutine runs. Got it?

@Stan: I got it, and I'm doing that, but I already finished the climbing system now... it was quite easy! ^^
@Kelvin: Well... since End of February/Start of March 2007, and it's now middle October, which makes... 1 year and 7,5 months, if I calculated right ( if not, sorry. It's probably because I'm ill then.

... which will not be released anytime soon. I want to get the main engine and a full level first. 
By the way, I am right now working on the ceiling climbing system ( like in Rayman 2, R3 GBA and R3 ). ^^
EDIT -> Well, well, well... It seems everything of that system is done. Except the animation, which I will start working on now.
What I still have to do before the second and way better demo ( counting down ):
11. Form Abilities - HARDER
10. Helicopter Upgrades - EASY AS PIE
9. Proper Dying & Hurt Animations for both above and under water surface - A LITTLE HARDER
8. Bubbles in the Water + Breath Meter - EASY
7. Form Changing ( not by pressing Enter, but with something else ) - EASY
6. Cages System ( 5 per level ) - EASY
5. The First Level ( The Sanctuary of Harmony and Peace ) with Boss and Cutscenes - HARD
4. A Demo Cutscene - HARDER ( not harder than 5, but harder than the EASY things )
3. A Better Menu - EASY
2. A Pause Menu - EASY
1. An Online map, possibly? - HARDER
And then...
RELEASE!

The first as a little secret, the second as a normal powerup... the gold fist!
The little secret isn't going to be in the demo though.
If I wouldn't have scrapped them, there would be way too much powers in this game...
