Guys, I was wondering what you thought of the calendar.

I've noticed it's barely used at all, and even when it is, it's mostly for fun rather than to provide any useful information. The staff could add more stuff in there, such as the deadlines for the SOTM and other events, but we don't have so many going on. We could also provide it as an iCalendar file (.ics) but I bet that just like the RSS feed no one would actually use it on their phones.

So, does anyone use it to keep themselves informed of the current events? Would anyone do it if all events were added to it? Or should we just drop it? All suggestions welcome too.

I wasn't even aware of such functions.
I don't go often on the portal since it is kinda heavy.
But when I will get a fully functionnal smartphone I'll use it.

Well thanks Fifo, but as much as we like it, improving the site also means getting rid of the useless stuff so I'll need more than a mere suggestion.

I used the calender a lot more years ago... but tbh it was probably stupid stuff...

I rarely use it to tell the truth, so I believe it could be removed. This is my opinion.

I only put my birthday in it I think. Can be removed if it's up to me!

In my opinion, the profiles should be something like that :

People tend to use their wiki userpage to add such detailed information to their profiles.

Boomboleros 7 stated it wasn't made for that, that's why I added that suggestion.
Also, < has an idea, all the users have to be approved by a member of the staff to post, that would be like on ModDB,
If a user is not approved, his posts will only be seen by the staff.
That would completely obliterate any chances of Flood&Spam, in addition, you could also set restricted rules for non approved members, like a bigger timeout between the messages.
