But all these crazy percentages are making me think of the different ways probability can be defined, and that whole "Frequentist v Bayesian debate". I think I'll have to binge on some literature / videos on that topic after RD :hap:
Dumbo TV wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 12:50 pm Cool, and for fans of origins I mean I feel like everything wants a Rayman 4, while we don't even have a Ubiart trilogy, but I'm going to eat pizza so we'll meet again later !
One of my pet peeves is indeed that people keep wanting "Rayman 4", when there have been several sequels to Rayman 3. By one count boombo and I made, the next game should be Rayman 12! :hap: A more conservative count gives Rayman 6, but I think the overarching point is that the game (if it ever exists) shouldn't be numbered at all, otherwise it'll either upset people, or not do justice to what came before!

That quote sure will always ring true about that company. :noel:
Hopefully, Davide Soliani will have the chance to prove it wrong in the next years... but that would be a level of miraculous luck with Ubi's involvement that could only match the C&C Remastered Collection not being sabotaged by EA's shenanigans. It only happens once every century. :hap:

Anyway, I'm curious to see how all the current fangame projects will turn out considering they're the only thing we can truly rely on as of now for Rayman content!

I personally want a sequel in the same style as Rayman 3 :)

That'd be nice all right! I don't know if they should try to replicate the scoring system though, would it ever be as special as the original? :confus:

I think we should have a brand new take on the gameplay again (though while keeping enough elements) should we ever get a 3D sequel, but I would love the return of something like the score system as it adds so much extra optional challenge and replay value.
In a way, you could say the UbiArt games had their own version of the score system through the Lums which you could get in such different numbers depending on how efficiently you collected them, so alternatives are always possible.

That's true actually, and UbiArt had way more checkpoints so restarting (usually :mefiant:) wasn't the nightmare it can be in Rayman 3!

So, how about a Rayman with a quicksave feature? Good idea? Terrible idea? :oops2:

Legends you mean, origins was sometimes pretty daunting

Restarting levels in Rayman 3 just because you're missing one of the combos was a freaking nightmare
I don't know if we would need a quicksave feature. Games aren't that difficult nowadays.

Yes, that's true. Apart from the 8-bit Music Levels, those were murder :oops2:

Well, that brings up another concern – what if a new Rayman game ends up being too easy? :mefiant:

It reminds me of when they simplified the levels in "Back to Origins" :pascontent:

That’s true, but when you accept your fate it becomes way less painful dying in the last jump of grannies world tour

I already find Rayman 2 & 3 to be a walk in the park most of the time, so that would be quite an accomplishment to make it even easier :noel:

Rayman 3 was still a little hard at some point...

From what I’ve heard that final boss is no cake

I found Rayman 2 harder when using a keyboard, but after using a controller it was waaaaay easier.

Guess some people are just bad at the different gameplay in the final section or at predicting some of his moves, because I just went through it in the last weeks after so many years and I barely even got damaged for most of the fight. :mryellow:
Personnally, it's one of my favourite bosses in the franchise. I think that fight is way too underrated.

To me, the only difficulty in the game is the scoring system, which is perfectly fine. Though I won't deny some parts weren't so much of a cakewalk when I played it for the first time as a kid in the early 2000s! :oops2:

Once you learn how to strafe they're pretty easy, though I still wouldn't put Rayman 3 in the same league as 2, with its way better combat system, not to mention the scoring mechanics… :mefiant:
