Very old British tortures were some of the worst I've ever heard. The most gruesome would be The Hammer, whereby an ordinary hammer was repeatedly bashed violently at every part of your body except the head. It started with the fingers I believe.

Not at all, unless you consider that all of your cells are as alive as you (which would make you a serial murderer). It has no conscience, it's not even human. As concerns the prisoner, have you ever heard of justice miscarriages? You can always free someone if he was unfairly jailed, but I doubt we can do anything for someone who has been sentenced to death

Sentencing someone to death would disable reformity too - if you're religious, the Bible clearly states that every human has a right to reform if they want to do so, and then there's the troubles it could cause with such religious groups. Isn't it arguable that killing a murderer is essentially also being murderous? How can a kill for a kill solve anything? Plus, how could the government determine when to give the death penalty? How serious would the crime need to be in order to justify a death sentence?

Dumbest thing I've ever heard. A lot of women get pregnant after getting raped. Should they not be allowed abotion? And there's no foolproof way of prevention. Condoms, birth control pills and all other forms of prevention have a fail rate.

I guess it would be easy to be popular in those times then. It isn't hard to come up with torture ideas.

Anyway, the only time I think it would be right for a murderer to be killed is when it's a Bounty Hunter, or Hitman doing it. Or if it's out of self-defense. But that's stating the obvious. (which I do best.)
