This is something we were planning to do with it, have it change depending on Rayman's actions. We can always try it out and change things later.Elite Piranha wrote: Thu Mar 10, 2022 8:19 pm It would be cool if the expression next to the health meter changes depending on where Rayman is or how injuried he is.

Re: Rayman Polokurse
Thanks for the input. We're still not entirely sure on the HUD. Even the size and font of the score could probably be smaller in the final version, and numbers would probably still be fine without the word score even needing to be there etc.

I do love that screenshot!
I wonder if that might be a bit distracting though. I guess you could do it subtly, as a nice feature that shows attention to detail but doesn't cause gameplay problems…Steo wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 12:45 pm This is something we were planning to do with it, have it change depending on Rayman's actions. Re: Rayman Polokurse
I guess that's true. Maybe we could either make it smaller or possibly somewhat transparent like the UbiArt games.PluMGMK wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 4:00 pm I wonder if that might be a bit distracting though. Re: Rayman Polokurse
The health meter could be the type that shows up when Rayman gains/loses health and hides automatically.
Re: Rayman Polokurse
There was a bit of a hiatus without much work for some time, but basically, Adsolution has joined the team, and we're now using Unity instead of Game Maker. This of course means starting from scratch minus the assets, but we feel this will be for the best in the long run!
Regretfully, Hayabusa has also left the team, and decided he'd prefer if we didn't use his music for the project. It's unfortunate, but Hoodoo and I will still try our best for the soundtrack.

It's sad news, but I'm sure you're in good hands with Adsolution.

Too bad to hear that, but at least now you have the power of Adsolution on your side
.
Re: Rayman Polokurse
Yeah, they've been coding everything again in Unity, and I'm supposed to be learning more about C# so I can help with that, and of course I want to have it organised so the code isn't an illegible mess to them.
I was doing the coding in Game Maker originally, and Hayabusa was helping, but even he didn't like GML. It seems GML is like an extremely simplified version of C#, where variables don't even need to be defined to work. It could just be "var_bool = true;" or "var_float = 0.1;", instead of like in Unity where it would be "private bool var_bool = true;" and "private float var_float = 0.1;". I guess in the long run it really makes more sense to learn the full language instead of just using simplified versions, as it could be useful beyond game development too.

Thank you!
These days we are making a lot of progress with the development and we are happy about it
We also created a Twitter account to share updates about the game's development and other stuff!

Re: Rayman Polokurse
To celebrate Rayman's birthday, yesterday we showcased a short gameplay of our new version made in Unity.
We are very happy to see how the game is taking shape!

Re: Rayman Polokurse
Very smooth! I understand you guys are still mostly working on the gameplay and controls?
Re: Rayman Polokurse
Can't wait to see more! It looks amazing. I wonder, how controls feels like to play.

Re: Rayman Polokurse
Yeah we had switched to Unity instead of Game Maker some time ago so everything was being done again from scratch, and ironing out the bugs etc. I've mainly being doing music related stuff since the switch, but I've been implementing it and trying to get into some other code related stuff too. Adsolution does the majority of the coding though. The team are doing a great job lately!Hunchman801 wrote: Fri Sep 02, 2022 1:29 pm Very smooth! Re: Rayman Polokurse
I updated the first post. It's short for now, but at least it doesn't contain obsolete data which is no longer relevant, given the game has migrated to a different engine and the team has changed etc.
Here's an embed of the gameplay from the earlier post:

Re: Rayman Polokurse
Indeed! Good luck with the gameplay, now I look forward to learning more about the environment the game will take place in.
Re: Rayman Polokurse
Oh hehe, Hoodoo spent a long time writing a document on the lore and other stuff for the team by compiling all the ideas together and of course coming up with her own. Hopefully others will like it when they find out about it.
