I was about to say; how the hell did you even get that thing there? You're not even able to jump on the shell in that area of the Menhir Hills. Anyway, yeah, I expect barrier, although I don't know why. There's a dark corridor right at the end of that room. No reason why you shouldn't be allowed to fool around with a Shell inside that one tiny place. Or maybe it would glitch out if you were to enter Clark's room whilst riding a Shell? Does it load a new sector (phase, part, area, what-have-you) when you drop down? I don't remember.

It's the first part, and yeah it loads a new area, the second area of The Menhir Hills where you ride a shell and meet clark. I was wondering what would happen if you tried to enter the next level whilst riding a shell, but apparently they put a trigger/barrier to prevent that
You can get the shell over the fence by boosting and hitting the wall to the left, just after the thorn floor. You will bounce off and sometimes gain some height, you need a pretty specific angle to make it work.

Pah-hah that's great to know! I'll be playing around with that some more. Never thought of tricking around with that Shell. I've always been playing with the one in the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire and the one in the Iron Mountains, but never the one in the first part of the Menhir Hills - maybe I thought he wasn't worthy because he can't jump.

Hmm, on the topic of Clark's room, did you fellas know that you can't skip the Cave of Bad Dreams with the flying glitch? If you go out of bounds, it'll automatically trigger the cutscene sending Rayman back to the Hall of Doors.

Wasn't that the first thing the discoverers of the glitch investigated? It was speculated that it might be possible to fly out the entrance of the level and try to avoid whatever trigger was there, but that doesn't sound likely.

Well you can destroy the plaster door before the clark cutscene and hit the switch to open the pirate door, then use the ultimate flying glitch to fly back to the start to get a new shell (or moonjump). You can't get the shell through the doorway as far as I know (but I only tested this once), but I think you may be able to jump the railing by accelerating on the slope.
EDIT: I tried it, you can actually jump over the railing and ride the shell through the pirate door. When the short cutscene triggers where Rayman usually walks through the door, there are actually two visible Raymans: one riding the shell, one walking. Nothing special happens unfortunately, the cutscene just starts like normal. (this is on N64 version, perhaps on PC version it's different).

Wait, the Rayman riding the Shell passes through the view or something? Does he audibly or visually crash into anything off-screen?
Interesting. It would seem that each cutscene actually spawns another instance of the Rayman character in-game and deletes the old one, but that fails to happen when he's riding a Shell. Hah.

That could perhaps explain the Woods of Light clone glitch too, somewhat.

I don't think it spawns a new instance for cutscenes, I think that Rayman is usually made invisible when he rides on the shell and the shell object actually renders the shell model + Rayman's model. However when the cutscene starts, Rayman is turned back to normal mode so his normal animation is visible again.
I've uploaded a video of it here, the second time I tried to turn around with the shell but it wouldn't change the way I was going.

Oh yeah, that makes sense! I wonder how many clones of Rayman we'd be able to stack up onto each other in one scene. I'm sure there's a few places where there's multiple cinematics (say, the Crow's Nest for instance).

You can't see it but when you escape on Rayman 2, when Rayman says "Let's go see Ly", at end of cutscene there's a frame when rayman is cloned if you move immediately after the cutscene is ended

I found a funny bug in Rayman 2 (not sure about all versions, but it works on Rayman Revolution).
After talking to Murphy he tries to fly off camera so that he can disappear, but if you hold R1 (rotate the camera anti-clockwise) he just keeps flying around your head in circles, trying to race the camera., and if you start walking backwards he follows you even more.
he disappears if you walk forward or stop rotating though, since he can leave the camera's view.
Has anyone seen this happen before? Sorry if anyone has...
(By the way, I'm not sure if it works in all places, but I discovered it in Whale Bay)

That sounds kind of like what can happen if you jump into the Fairy Glade too quickly for Murfy to appear in the Hall of Doors, after the Woods of Light. You can wait until you've made it as far as the Canopy, then go back to the door for the Fairy Glade to make him appear, then chase him all the way down to the Menhir Hills when he flies away!
