Thanks for the genuinely useful advice. Job opportunities is definitely the most attractive pull, but < does like everything about big cities like London.

< may indeed end up flat sharing with ^^^

< is looking for places closer to the city, Camden seems like the best bet so far, but < can't afford a 1 bedroom, and most of <'s friends are at uni.
< had a semi-bad experience sharing with strangers in Guildford, one guy was a decent bloke, the other was a messy, constant weed smoking annoyance

< only cares about proximity to the tube, reasonable space, and as long as it can be decorated to look nice, < can handle a bit of grime

< offers this site as a useful guide to current prices/crime levels/etc. Don't do Camden man. Heck, even Islington's on average cheaper than Camden and that's one of the loveliest places to live.

Angel is also a straight shot to the city on the Northern line. Because everyone wants to live in Camden landlords feel able to act like scumbags. A bunch of <'s friends had to learn that the hard way.
