< needs to know that <'s emotions are genuine, certain things should make < sad, and < wouldn't change that

< doesn't like feeling sad, but < would rather feel sad than angry. < hates feeling angry.

< is like ^ to the extent that < has had to relearn anger, because <'s entire spectrum of negative emotions were being redirected inwardly and thus manifesting as sadness. Don't knock anger too much, it has its benefits!

< very rarely feels angry, and even rarer is it a personal thing, more like, anger at the terrible people in the world

And there are so many of them Righteous anger is best anger.

< knows people don't choose whether to be sad or not, and what < meant to say is that < doesn't choose to not be sad either. < thinks it's impossible to just choose what emoton you want to have.

What < means is that things that would normaly get people sad do not get < sad, and it's not because < is a heartless bastard (not that I'm implying that that's your point of course) but because it doesn't make sense to be sad. Just like different people get sad at different things for different reasons, < has little reason to be sad at anything really.

Experiencing pain in order to understand and appreciate your full range of feeling and emotion, it develops/opens your mind. Truthfully, unless you've "been there", you can't properly comprehend it and the effects it can have on you, but in a sense, ignorance is bliss.
