I honestly don't know the answer you're looking for, especially since these are my people.

I've been raised as a protestant (lutherian because from a german branch) and as such I have trouble understanding why Greengoop didn't get the point.

As for the symbol you've put up, it's a Croix Huguenotte (Hugunenot cross), so maybe the Huguenots is the word you were after. But that cross is a symbol for all protestant, not only those persecuted by King Louis XIV after he revoked the Edit de Nantes.
