Well, you have the main series, with the numbered games, and the UbiArt sub-series, made with the engine of the same name. There's a reason there never was a Rayman 4.

RRR is still considered "Rayman 4" internally by the Windows application.

Yeah, for better or for worse, that's basically the only official "Rayman 4" we ever really got. That's why I basically accept it as canon at this point (despite the horrible redesign of the Baby Globoxes )

That reminds me of when my brother was absolutely obsessed with baby globoxes, and he was absolutely horrified after I showed him the redesign

Well, if they eventually decided against the name Rayman 4, then it's not Rayman 4 for me, regardless of what the initial intention was. I prefer to see the Rabbids sub-series as separate too.

For a short time I considered Rayman Origins as Rayman 4. Not sure what's better

Id rather have 2 games than 1, and I still see rayman origins as the rayman 4

Ah if only they had gone through with their plan and made it a prequel! Then it would be deserving of “Rayman Origins” or Rayman 0. But that’s not how it went clearly.

They just decided to keep the name because it acted as a throwback to the original series. Definitely a wasted opportunity

That's for sure, a prequel would have been so much better than this abomination of a plot! But instead of a nice attempt at consolidating the lore, but got a bunch of new inconsistencies to deal with.

I still fully believe that after the first three games, no one who worked on Rayman cared about any kind of integrity in the story. I feel like those who did and still do care exist in Ubisoft, but years of money-hungry tactics from the higher ups have drowned out their opinions on where Rayman should go from here. Captain Laserhawk was absolutely abysmal for me.

I have made it very clear on several occasions why I think CL was a terrible idea. I even stated how turning Rayman from family friendly into that would be hard for parents to have to explain as to why their kids can't watch their "Hero" in CL. It's too out of character to make any sense, and some people tend to justify it by saying "oh he was mistreated", but in reality would Rayman be the type of character to give into depression like this? No, because he is a hero at the end of the day.

Some even think that when I mention the fact they made him a drug addict, that I'm overlooking the plot because I am "just thinking about the drugs", but even if there were no drugs, it still seems out of place nonetheless for him to behave like this. Nothing justifies how Rayman was portrayed in this show. It's as senseless as being like "Mickey Mouse goes fucking crazy on cocaine spree" and trying to explain to your 5 year old what's going on.

I know that Conker went over to the "dark side", but he was hardly even a character when that happened. Just a character in a racing game with no background.

PS: I will add that Rayman using guns is another senseless thing which shows how much whoever wrote the show even knows or cares about Rayman. It's not like he had powers all along or anything like that, which he could have used instead of guns.

What are you guys talking about? Rayman isn't in Captain Laserhawk, that's Ramon obviously!

That's good then, since it wasn't Rayman afterall.
