I hate Revolution, it is basically a modded Rayman 2 where all the extra bulk has no design sense. If you really think about it you'll see I'm right.

Revolution's not THAT bad. The hub world is pretty nice though sadly I have a very poor sense of direction sometimes and can't remember where a world was (e.g. I couldn't remember where the Fairy Glade was until I found a sign and tried following where it was telling me to go), so it's more of my fault than the game.

Sure, the voice acting could use some work for the English dub, but I at least like Globox's voice, he sounds almost like Patrick Star (who is my fave Spongebob character lol) and Globox is more friend shaped cuz of that XD

I don't hate Revolution, but I agree that it doesn't feel like a cohesive whole. I think this post of mine from 2020 still summarizes my opinion about it pretty well:

Surely, it adds a lot of new content and the visuals were significantly improved, but this was all done with very little consideration for the original content. Some levels were mixed up in ways that hardly make sense, while others had their names changed and/or inverted, further adding to the confusion. What's with "the Lava Sanctuary"? And don't get me started on what a terrible excuse for a boss Grolem 13 is. He looks almost exactly like Axel, showing how little work was spent designing him, the gameplay for the fight is boring at best, and what's with his in-game description? Is he supposed to be a pirate creation, or is it a joke from the developers on how lazy they were when they recycled Axel into this? Having a baby Globox straight out give you the final mask was indeed rather anticlimactic, but Grolem 13 managed the feat of making this even worse.

I also had trouble in my original play how to orient myself in the hub given it wasn't as linear as the Hall of Doors. That improved after replays, though.

I'm actually relieved that Leguizamo wasn't called back for Retold. I always think about Ice Age's Sid when I listen to the English R3 Globox, a real marketing move at the time for the North American audience. It's mostly because of him I've been playing R3 in French since the beginning of last decade.

I do agree that for situations like Grolem 13 the game would benefit from a ground-up remake where a forth sanctuary existed with new puzzles and such. Foutch has the same topology of Axel but he was still distinct wih the face, colours and the fire abilities. I like to think that instead of a third pyramid-head character there could be a whole new design, or maybe one identical to Umber but more steel alike, given the location of the mask? I'm remembering how Rocky from R3GBA/N-Gage is very similar to Axel/Foutch and wears a steel bucket, but he doesn't seem to be able to do anything else other than hitting around and causing earthquakes to bring out fire from the soil.
