Re: Rayman Legends
Nah, but I agree with Sergio. When I first saw the beta trailer, I was excited to see the Rabbids and I anticipated them to be enemies.

Re: Rayman Legends
I gotta give Rayman 1 a bit of props though for its password system, this makes it much easier to allow us to re-fight bosses, however Rayman 2- that's maybe just the one problem I have with it, not being able to re-fight bosses, but it's completely understandable.Haruka wrote:(Now imagine me, that some of my favourite bosses are Mr Skops and Foutch). It isn't like I hate to restart the first two games but sometimes I would just feel like to replay a battle...
About Rayman 3 replayability, I don't like the fact that once you replay a level, you can't skip that cutscene, that's one thing that has kind of irritated me, if you've viewed the cutscene once, you should be able to skip it, however the Rayman trilogy to me is quite possibly some of the most replayable games I've ever played!

Re: Rayman Legends
I think I seriously should explain why my massive hype for RL has sadly decreased by quite a lot....
It was Christmas and when I got a Wii U, I was amazed, because I didn't expect it in the slightest. This made me happy and more hyped for February. 2 weeks or a week away before it releasing we were given a new update that it was going multiplat, cool, right? But it was delayed until September which truly frustrated me. There wasn't anything I could do about this but just wait. However this delay gave us a bunch of new content, so maybe it isn't so bad after all. But new content aside, my hype for RL has seriously decreased by a lot as the weeks went by... far too many media shown (As Adsolution stated), the challenge app got a bit repetitive after a while (still kind of fun though), and far too many other games were shown while waiting. I'm not saying my hype for RL is completely gone, but it is not even close as to how big it was when it were in February, it honestly saddens me, because I want to be excited as ever, but I ended up being more excited for October now for the 3 games I've pre-ordered. The other problem I have is the horrid American release date for me... SEPTEMBER 3RD!? Fucking really!? A Tuesday on one of the FIRST days I go back to School... I don't mind if Europeans get it 2 days earlier but REALLY!? Cmon now, this is sorely disappointing, I'll have barely time to fit into RL because of this, this is mostly the reason why a lot of my hype is gone... *sigh*... That being said I also feel REAL pity for the GTA V players especially.
That aside, I do look forward to RL, but I can't compare it to the amount of hype I had when RO came out.
It truly makes me sad to say this as a big Rayman fan but I feel like the excitement I had... a lot of it is just, gone, and it really isn't the delays fault, so much more as the specific release date.

Re: Rayman Legends
Microsoft is the one responsible for delay since their policy say if a game is multiplatform, it must first come on Xbox 360 or at same time with other consoles. They do not accept a game to come on other console first and then on 360. I am not sure does Sony have this policy too but I don't think so. If game first came on Wii U when it was supposed and use later content we get now in game as free DLC, then that would be awesome. PS3, Vita and PC versions could have been released later with this content already included. As for 360, I do not have anything against it, but Microsoft's policy about multiplatforms is kinda stupid, so maybe if game was not on 360 it would make more fans happy and no delay for Wii U gamers who bought console. Plus every fan owns a PC and Haruka's PC is 6 years old and it still runs game fine when on lowest resolution so even a people who don't have Sony or Nintendo consoles could play it. I am pretty sure if PC game is on Steam, it is Vavle's policy that matters and not Microsoft's. I think Microsoft's policy is only for 360 games and Windows store games.

Re: Rayman Legends
I don't mind the delay, it's just the SPECIFIC release date, September 3rd is a HORRIBLE day for it to release for me, on a fucking Tuesday, how am I suppose to be completely hyped when my School will overthrow me with homework?
Anyways few years ago I did a video on my thoughts on RO a few days away from it's release, expect the same with RL... only with my real voice, maybe.

Re: Rayman Legends
Well on the bright side you will be done with School after this year.
Oh and I am gonna check out that video on your channel about RO. I don't think I saw it, and I will look forward to watch video about RL thoughts. You are thinking of using real voice? Thats not bad idea I must say.

Re: Rayman Legends
I know exactly how you feel dude. I'm still excited as hell for RL, but I'm not looking forward to all the school work I'll be doing. However, one blessing I have is that my mom will be taking most of the same classes with me, so she'll be there to keep me on the straight and narrow while we do the same work. I still have to wait for the weekend to look at the Wii U with her before I get it. She has told me that she certainly doesn't want to deprive me of the experience, but she also doesn't want me drained of my expenses, since I'll also be getting a new PC with my financial aid. So, as of now she's still a little on the fence about it, though she has certainly shown interest in it.Rayfist wrote:I don't mind the delay, it's just the SPECIFIC release date, September 3rd is a HORRIBLE day for it to release for me, on a fucking Tuesday, how am I suppose to be completely hyped when my School will overthrow me with homework?
Anyway, point is, as long as we stay on top of our school work, we should still be able to enjoy Legends. Hopefully, your classes won't be too hard on you.

Indeed, though of course we Europeans do manage to sneak in some time before release, we'll be back in school after that weekend onward.

Re: Rayman Legends
I'll actually be waiting on Steam release in midnight for it, meaning I'll be sleeping during classes probably.
LOL, kidding, School is important so I'll have to stay awake, I may drink some energy drinks or some shit.

Re: Rayman Legends
I know how you feel Rayfist, everybody seems to have just a bit of time to try out the new game before school starts...
I'm curious to know when will the challenges launch ( as i'll be trying to record every single one ), knowing that not everyone will have the game on launch, the release dates are different in several regions, and that it will take some time to reach awesomeness levels 2 and 4 as that's when the extreme challenges unlock ( and it would be pointless to put in unreplayable challanges on launch, knowing that nobody will reach level 2 or 4 by the time the game comes out )

I think it isn't exactly "pity". The reality will be the American players pushing RL to Xmas or later and buy GTA V in day one.Rayfist wrote:That being said I also feel REAL pity for the GTA V players especially.
I actually have the same problem. I'm excited about RL, but at the same time, the date of release is really close to the start of classes. I will be starting Uni classes day 12 if I'm not in error, and knowing how the game will be the biggest Rayman title ever released, it is a lot of time pressure (not to mention I've been practicing driving since the beginning of the month with already an exam marked day 9, and between this date and 12 I need to go to the uni to do the self-subscription and taking care of other related subjects). It saddens me I can't play RL in the rythm I want (I honestly would have prefered the game to be released in endings of July). What misses to do with RL by the time I enter, it will have to be distributed in micro-slots of free time probably until the New Year. It is sad...Earth Gwee wrote:I know exactly how you feel dude. Re: Rayman Legends
Why are you so quick to assume? How about The reality is MOST of the American consumers. I'd have no problem if you said that. Because I am NOT that person, since I heavily prefer RL to GTA V...Haruka wrote:The reality will be the American players pushing RL to Xmas or later and buy GTA V in day one.
What I mean is I feel pity for both the RL and GTA V players having the games they want released around school, nothing more.

Re: Rayman Legends
To me it's always been much more about the journey than the destination. What I consider most valuable is that the process of reaching completion is enjoyable, so much so that you'd want to come back later and play it again from the start, while the actual goal of completion isn't really that important.spiraldoor wrote:When a game tries to achieve replay value through a large number of tasks or tokens, it ties its value to the idea of completion. When a game like this is maxed out, it loses its appeal. None of that stuff matters unless the underlying mechanisms and atmosphere of the game are so interesting that you keep playing it and thinking about it even when you've strictly done everything that's there for you to do.
Mechanics obviously play a large role here, but stuff like atmosphere, storytelling and world building are in a bit of a different category. All that is brought in from cinema and litterature, while mechanics and level design belong entirely to video games, and those will have to be the focus if you really want a game to be engaging.

This video is interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SXoYKU8V_M
The ending especially. It shows the first few level paintings after Once Upon a Time and the Lucky Ticket system. It seems you can get one in every level!
Can't wait to finally play it all

So, [Magician pretty much multiplied like the rest of the nightmares. And that Lucky Ticket, man.]
Re: Rayman Legends
Introduction cutscene is amazing. Finally, I watched it with good audio, because in RL live stream some time ago, audio was not that great.
As for ending of video, the idea is awesome.

It still sounds rather quiet at some points, I'll see when I get my copy, but all in all, looking very good, I like how the Lucky Tickets work as [scratch cards], no doubt it'll be more fun to use them on the Wii U given its features.
