So, I browse these sorts of mixes to look for dance music. The classics and routines written specifically for raqs sharqi are easy to get hold of, but I am addicted to sha3abi and love the directions it's being taken in. I generally prefer Oka w Ortega, but they're more sanitised, more polished. This is raw, unfunded, illegal - a lot of it is from after the Revolution and made with cracked software - and there's little chance of the newer artists getting compensation. I'm a Westerner, I'm able to pay, and for many tracks there is no way of doing so... I feel uncomfortable about mahraganat being taken out of its home, without remuneration, by people outside its context who can then get paid for using it in their own dance or music. So for the moment this is strictly stuff for me to enjoy at home. /boringassrant
I'd love to use Ayzak, El Bola2ya, both pretty accessible. I've already bought Souq el Banat, but El Lithy is an established name! /whocaresicarethatswho
