Oi, yes, this is one of my favourites off of Showbiz, and definitely one of the songs that most stuck with me at first. I love it's inclusion on the album - I remember going into this album expecting it to basically be 40 minutes of Sober, but instead this just comes in so unexpectedly and completely grabbed my attention. And like you said, it still captures the familiar Muse sound which keeps it from feeling out of place.Adsolution wrote:^Great song, innit? I've always wanted to write something like that, it's one of my favourites from Showbiz - the final chorus gets me every time. It's so serene and bluesy, yet so original and fiercely Muse in its execution, I sometimes don't know how they managed to pull that off in their earlier albums, it's almost magical. Some of their live gigs from that era were so raw they were almost emotional to watch, you could really see the feeling that was put into these songs.

I thought the same thing at first. I think a lot of people label it as a generic debut due to it sort of giving you that vibe if you just casually flip to somewhere random on the album. A lot of the 'harder' parts have a similar sound to them, but it's the way they're weaved together that makes you realise that each piece on the album is completely different from the last, as well as very memorable.Keane wrote:I remember going into this album expecting it to basically be 40 minutes of Sober, but instead this just comes in so unexpectedly and completely grabbed my attention.
This one is interesting for me, because while I tend not to list it as one of my favourites on the album, it's one of the ones I respect the most, and I can never quite place my finger on why. Maybe because it really takes its time. I think it almost feels like a very early pilot to their more experimental styles later on.Keane wrote:SpVn-EVNc0M
