I haven't seen the original one, but the preview of the new one looks neat.

It will be the third version, apparently.

The first one had the subsilver skin with a few custom skins that you could choose in your profile, The look of it wasn't really impressive.

The first one was the most active though, as far as I remember it had about 6500 posts when it merged with PC. (PC had about 40000 back then I think) The second version only has 3500 posts. The first one was made in December 2003 I think 14th but I'm not a 100% sure about that. The second one was made in June or something 2004. (I'm too lazy to check)

Are you going to administrate the third one with Beebop?

Well, right now I'm registered and do have admin powers but I don't know If I can help too much with it though. I helped him figuring out the Admin Control Panel.

Does it have a crappy hoster (pre-installed phpBB which cannot be modified, like yabbers) or a real one?

Not that I know of yet. But I'm not sure if you have permission to upload add-ons. I haven't figured out that much yet.. But Yabbers had a limit for banner size didn't they? And this one obviously doesn't have that.

Another problem with such hosters is that you can't get backups if one day you want a real hoster.

Yabbers had a backup feature... It wasn't free though. Not sure about this one, I'll see if I can find it out ASAP.

Yabbers was actually a good hoster as far as activity was concerned. They just fell make on modifications...

You should go to the PHPBB website and download the forum thingy, and then get it uploaded with a hoster.

True, but I was just saying that it was a good starter for learners.

I don't think so, as you don't learn anything.

You learn basic administration. That's how I started.

It's quite easy to get to understand the basics of administration.

There is nothing to learn: everything is written and indicated :|

But even when things are indicated, it can still be difficult to understand.

Sometimes they are... like going from PHPBB2 to PHPBB3.. admin panel is different, more like getting used to it is what the case is, though.

However hard to learn it is, it doesn't bring you much knowledge actually :|
