Meh, I'm not feeling it, I don't think I'm hardcore into Smash, though I'll probably read the notes on it after.

So no ones gonna talk about all the new info on Mario Kart 8?

I read tidbits about it, but I haven't been following it wholly.

I haven't honestly followed Mario Kart since Mario Kart Double Dash on the GameCube.

I didn't find it too exciting.

The new items look cool and the Spin Boost looks cool, but I really don't care for the characters they announced, especially since they are not even new. I was sort of excited to see Rosalina when she was revealed in December, since she's at least a unique character (that I happen to love), but even her reveal was not that worthy of hype (juxtaposing her Smash reveal), and Metal Mario, Lakitu, and Shy Guy are all extremely generic choices anyway. Like I've said before, the only characters that could get me hyped in Mario Kart at this point are characters from the RPGs, or guests like Kirby. All of the main reps are in. Rosalina in Mario Kart Wii was the last truly exciting character to be introduced to the series. Everyone else has been extremely generic. And characters in Mario Kart are not as worthy of hype as in the likes of Smash, because it's not like they play all that differently.

And while Rainbow Road N64 is cool and all, it's just another retro track. I have been enjoying the fact that they are really revamping these courses, but it's more the general concept that I love. No particular retro course is going to excite me (except for MAYBE Waluigi Pinball).

I am looking forward to Mario Kart 8, it's the first Mario Kart that I've been excited for since DS, but no one thing is really exciting me, apart from the online play which will certainly keep me busy (I never owned Wii and didn't get into the online).

Part of me wishes that ol' Rosalina trailer was for Mk8, I'd love to see Mario Kart become something larger akin to Smash Bros.

Super Smash Kart is kind of a pipe dream for many people.

While I was completely fine with the Rosalina trailer for Smash as she was on my wishlist for the game (she's my favourite female fictional character overall and I love the character as much as I do the likes of Sonic and Professor Layton), I was awfully disappointed last Direct, when they didn't follow up on the Rosalina for Smash reveal by revealing Kirby and another Nintendo character for MK8. I really thought that was going to be the case when Iwata said "this trailer will have characters you would have never expect to see in Mario Kart". Then we get the Koopalings, who were such a bland way of filling a load of character slots.

I really feel like Mario Kart is at a point where it should just become "Mario & Nintendo All-Stars Racing", if they want to give us more interesting characters that we can get excited for.

I wouldn't mind, only R.O.B was playable in MK DS, and the Blue Falcon was a kart in MKWii.

The Blue Falcon was a kart in MkWii? Huh, I had no idea, methinks I should dust it out and see if I can get it then.

If you want to unlock it, just beat the Lightning Cup in Mirror Mode. It's a small class kart.

I see, I think I'll give it a shot once my exam season has ended.

Mine never seems to end :(

it seems interesting to me but I'm planing on buying a classmates N64, so I don't know when I'll get it. ( I heard you can do all 1-item rules, so you can guarantee that i'm setting that to blue shells

Waluigi Pinball was already in Mario Kart 7 actually, which is a pretty awkward choice if you ask me, it would look brilliant on a TV screen. I believe someone actually calculated once that they can do two more games with retro tracks before they run out, so I'm curious to see which ones they pick. I just hope they don't follow Mario Kart Wii's path and make half of them SNES/GBA, because those are a little dull in my opinion.

Man, I loved that level in Mario Kart 64. I should go and replay it for nostalgia.

Well, I just took a look at Mario Kart 8's page on Nintendo's site. Gotta say, that one catches my interest right now. :)

I'm really excited for it, especially seeing how so far every track revealed looks like I'll enjoy it. I wish they'd give Mario Party this sort of treatment.

Yeah every track in the video, especially the rainbow one, seemed quite fun. Even the items you use seem new to me. :)

Last Mario Party version I really got into was the fourth one, and before that it was the first one. I didn't care to much for, I believe was 7 when I tried it.

Mario Party DS was a fun, and not to mention better than half of the mario party franchise. one of the many reasons I'm getting an N64 is because the originals were so entertaining!

One of the best things about Mario Kart 8 is the fact that it's the first game in the series to feature a properly orchestrated soundtrack. No more of those MIDI instruments with this one.

Though I think what I want most out of this game that I haven't already got is some 3D World representation. Mainly for Bowser. I want him to have his pimp mobile, the new Bowser's Castle stage to be Bowser World, and the music to be a remix of Bowser's theme in 3D World.

Huh! That's awesome, to have a properly orchestrated soundtrack. I'm definitely checking out Mario Kart 8, for that!
