I'm just worried about that new I read which said RO's sales would affect Ancel's "liberty"
Hey Beebo, welcome back. Yep, I beat it quite a while ago, but only because I restarted the game and it didn't appear.beebo44 wrote:Hey Spanex, did ya manage the Serendipity's chest chase? Wow I haven't been on here 4 a while.
Call of Duty and Skyrim are great games. There’s no need to bash people who enjoy them just because you’re butthurt over the sales of Rayman Origins.NotaKuroi wrote:Rayman has a bad sales because gamers think that 60 dollars for "XBLA game" is too excpensive. Also all gamers love COD and Skyrim.Stupid people... *facepalm*
Indeed, I blasted through Uncharted 2 in a single twelve-hour sitting. On Christmas Day, no less. Forever alone.AJack wrote:People beat much longer games than Rayman Origins in less than one day; hell, I hear about people knocking over AAA titles in a single sitting.
People can enjoy what they want to, don't be a hater.NotaKuroi wrote:Rayman has a bad sales because gamers think that 60 dollars for "XBLA game" is too excpensive. Also all gamers love COD and Skyrim.Stupid people... *facepalm*
I disagree. I'm sure the game not selling well is the result of releasing it at a time where tons of other high profile games came out and selling it at full price. It would probably have helped alot to have it come out this month with a lower price tag.spiraldoor wrote:Maybe changing the game to a retail release wasn’t such a good idea after all.
Thanks guys.sergiomonty wrote:Me too.spiraldoor wrote:I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on The Reveal.
The graphics aren't as bad as I imagined in the beginning, but I think people who have got bigger TVs suffer more with the graphical quality of the Wii version.sergiomonty wrote: By the way, that notice is awful, I can't believe it, the game deserves more costumers!...however, they're somehow right, I mean...come on, look at the price! I got it cheaper because it's on wii, but the graphics suck balls! (kinda)
This is true, at least the "Help Me!" yellings are a good handicap here. It is all a matter of looking well to everywhere, even if this means committing suicide in the game.AJack wrote:People beat much longer games than Rayman Origins in less than one day; hell, I hear about people knocking over AAA titles in a single sitting. As for the Electoon cages, I don't think they're really supposed to be that difficult to find, what with the 'Help me!' sound effects and all.Luckster wrote:$60 IS too much for this game. While there are some challenging levels, it doesn't take long to beat if you have the time to sit down for it. I beat it within 3 days (not in a row) of renting it from Gamefly and collected all but 1 electoon cage without use of a guide (can't locate the first one in Why So Crabby?).
One more point for AJack. Luckster, did you take 3 days to really beat it 100%? I didn't count the exact time of gameplay I've been spending in Rayman Origins but the game has been surprising me in the longevity, because I'm more than sure that I did already more than 10 hours of gameplay, and I still need few hours more to fully beat it. I can make sure this is the biggest game of Rayman's quadrilogy. Lack of replayability? What about the Co-Op, and the side-achievements like collecting Time Trial Trophies and Lum Medals? And people who own a PS3 or a 360 have got the bonus of the trophies.AJack wrote:You think 60 levels isn't enough? 60 levels, all playable in 2-4 player co-op, all with two Time-Trial challenges, all with multiple awards for Lum collecting? That's not enough replayability for you? I'd be interested to hear of any recent platformer that comes close.Luckster wrote:There aren't that many levels, and the replayability is lacking heavily, even as far as playformers go. There isn't any storyline to speak of. It's all up for interpretation. So that leaves little to desire when you want to wrap your mind about something.
As for the story, try telling that to the countless millions of people who line up every year to buy the latest Mario 'Oh no, Bowser has kidnapped the Princess!' Bros game.
The developers had their own reasons to scrap early ideas from the final version of the game. I wonder if this is related with the initial reaction of the Rayman fantards (if you know what I mean) when the very first trailer was revealed in E3 2010's Ubisoft Press Conference. I still didn't finish the game but I can already conclude that many things were scrapped.AJack wrote:Adding more story elements wouldn't have had any effect on the sales at all. Probably not even a single copy.Luckster wrote:Perhaps if they hadn't rushed the production of this game (I've heard that there was supposed to be a much deeper and better explained plot, which would include a showdown with "Mr. Dark" at the end) and thought more about making the replay value higher, the game would have sold better.
@AJack: I don't play Skyrim but I have respect for it.AJack wrote:Also, it's unfair to blame another popular title for the bad sales of another. Their target audiences are vastly different.Luckster wrote:Even as a Rayman fan since the original game, sorry Ubisoft, this just isn't worth $60 to own. I will probably be waiting until it's in the bargain bin. 8|
The overlap is much bigger than you'd think. The allure of high review scores is enough to drag a lot of people in who wouldn't otherwise pay attention, but many of them don't have enough cash to buy every game they'd like to.
That's a fun fact: there are people who say that Rayman Origins should be only bought when it is costing 20€, and then there are people who spend 100€ in the Collector's Edition of Sonic Generations without even blink (No offence for anyone here) (And there are even worse examples, that you can Google. Like Collector Editions that are even more than that price. What about other poor Sonic games that sold millions, and many copies were bought in the original price?). And we already know how big is the Mario fan community, so I guess we should not complain either.AJack wrote:Oh, and while I'm here, who wants to know how many copies 'New Super Mario Bros Wii' sold? 22 MILLION. Seems like a lot of people were happy to pay $60 bucks for that one.
Can't see anything in the website.Cairnie wrote: Over here I think we've had a bit better advertising, for a start with Brian Blessed [he did voice for that Kirby game as well], plus there's a promotion on right now at Cartoon Network's UK site: http://www.cartoonnetwork.co.uk/rayman [I'm a big kid, I entered just 'cause].
Oh well it's not like Rayman games hadn't sold at all, the fact that Rayman 1, Revolution and 3 all became PS platinums should tell us something, plus poor sales aren't always discouraging.
The only Ubisoft ads I've been watching in TV are for Just Dance 3 and Assassin's Creed: Revelations. In my living area, I didn't see a single Rayman Origins copy for sell.Electoon wrote:I can't say i ever saw any TV advertising over here though. Having said that, I don't really watch much TV these days (limited access to it) - but I'm sure someone else in the family would have said if Rayman was on the screen, so no...I thought advertising was weak in that sense.
Having said that, it currently has some really cool displays in all my local GAME/Gamestation stores, with cardboard cut outs of Rayman and the like
I'm with El Dango. I think it is also because of the huge big titles that have been coming out at the same time, which does not quite help a lot.El Dango wrote:I disagree. Aside from this, I'll stay optimistic and say that this is just a rough start. This game has caught the attention of fans and non-fans alike, so it seems odd that it would be the least successful in the series.
You know what? It's their problem. It does not harm spending a while to read reviews and do some research about Rayman Origins before taking stupid conclusions, but I guess it is asking too much for their limited IQ. Fantards are dangerous creatures.sergiomonty wrote:Rayman won several new fans? Yes. He lost a lot of older fans? sadly, yes, because they're idiots.
Yeah, those retrofags who don't accept Rayman's change and say "NO WAY, I HATE RAYMAN NOW, HE'S A CHILDISH PERVERT, THE RABBIDS JUST RUINED HIM ADSFSAFA" or those who say "I would have prefered a serious 3d rayman game, like rayman 2 or 3, this game is just a crappy flashgame". I know tons of Rayman fans that left the franchise just for this, and believe me, they're missing an incredible gaming experience.
It's strange because I never really noticed that the Rayman fanbase was so broken before Origins was announced. It probably has something to do with the fact that most people here like all the games.sergiomonty wrote:Rayman won several new fans? Yes.
