+ So far summer has really been making up for the spectacular fuckfest that summer 2013 was: Nicely sleeping in, pretty sunny weather, good terms with my mother, playing some Animal Crossing, I'd say it's certainly something I deserve after having spend the past nine weeks worrying about failing exams and if I'd pass all my classes.
+/- During our Europe trip this year we're gonna be visiting every last family member and friend, and I was kinda hoping we'd only see the grandparents this year. Not that I don't like seeing these people (Well, I think all of us could do without my aunt, but we can't tell we don't have enough time again) but after the fifth time of "Yeah Texas is nice. Yeah school is going alright. Mhm, glad to be on vacation." I get kinda burned out.
- With the end of school and summer happening, I've completely forgotten to practice any guitar for the past week. Hopefully I can get it enough tomorrow not to embarrass myself during the lesson.

I really want to hear you play some time, even if you've only started recently. What has your teacher shown you so far, out of curiosity?
+ I'm nearing my fifth lesson this Friday in classical guitar so far, and I adore it, I can feel that my finger dexterity and accuracy has easily doubled only since I started. Of course I've been playing electric guitar on my own accord these past three years without any instruction, but pushing aside all your bad habits and starting open while someone provides you with direct feedback is wonderful.
-- This morning I witnessed part of a shooting Downtown in front of my friend's apartment; I was walking down an alleyway across the street to meet up with him, and I heard in the distance some people yelling "Agh, put down the gun!", and then a few shots were fired. I got there about twenty seconds later to see across the roundabout a man lying on the ground with blood in his clothes, and one of the shooters getting on a stolen bicycle and rushing off. My friend and his older brother who were standing right there were direct witnesses, and the brother was part of a lengthy news broadcast on it, describing the event:
http://www.cbc.ca/player/News/Raw+Video/ID/2464060729/ - Apparently afterward, the shooter fled to Science World (interactive science museum) which was nearby, with lots of school children in it, but he was apprehended before entering the building, but it still went on lockdown.

Damn, Ad, sorry to hear that. It sucks to be a witness to something like that, and, while I haven't been witness to something that bad, witnessing something like that always scares me, since I always feel like I'm going to be hunted down.

At least no one you knew got hurt, I suppose.

- Found out a nasty thing about that PSX. When I turn on the overclocking feature, the (composite) video signal glitches out. Maybe this will go away once I get an RGB cable for it, maybe not (I'm getting cables with sync on luma, so who knows?). It's annoying, though.
+ Been having loads of fun with it.

Fifo, stop with this censorship! Censorship is one of the worst things on the planet.
Tech, why are you calling it PSX if it is PS1? It would be same if I called my PS2 a PS4

PSX is also an abbreviation for the fat PS1 models.

Why Sony named their PS2-DVR-thing that I have no idea.

Sony never officially called fat PS1 models PSX. Otherwise they would not name PS2-DVR same. Why some person started calling it that and spread the name online I have no idea (I don't even know who started that to be honest).

Nonetheless, it's an incredibly common abbreviation for the older systems.

The 'PSX' name came from the beta PlayStation, which was named the 'PlayStation Experimental', abbreviated to PSX. The final PS1 was nothing like it (and thus no one should call it that), but Sony did later paid homage to the name with the PS2-DVR console.

This day already started really bad for me.
- They were no trains today, because probably trees fell onto the railway, so I was forced to take my bike.
- I took the bike and found out the streets have been blocked by trees -.- (see here:

- I still tried to reach school somehow but lost myself in nowhere -.-
+ Could find at least way back home.

Doesn't PS1 mean the portable version though?

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of the "PSone".
PS1:
PSone:
The latter had a screen attachment to make it portable:

Ah yes, the 1/One distinction, that has become infinitely more important as of late…
My mistake!

I still find it rather amusing that I've never owned the "fat" incarnation of any Playstation console.
- Had two exams today, one after the other, my head...
+ I've now completed about 55% of my exam season
- The hardest is yet to come...
+ At least I don't have any more exams this week, my head needs a rest...

Hm. But, still, it's a good way to destinguish between the two models.

That portable PSone deal is hella-awesome. Gotta love old and clunky technology of the days of yonder. x)
God, Addy, what a truly shitty thing to deal with. I hope it wasn't all too traumatising... and else... put it into your music and your art! Those are great ways to let one's emotions fly when they want to make you cry.
