<'s new optical drive is quite loudl for some reason and actually sounds like no other optical drive < has ever heard, but it functions well.

Yeah. And to clarify what < meant regarding the sound, it's almost like a loud hissing more than it is a traditional mid-frequency revving sound. < actually finds it to be more annoying than the normal revving sound, and < is curious as to what changed in their design.
