I also am not quite sure why Mario was brought to the subject. His games have completely different approaches.

Aside from Multiplayer support in newer games and RL Costumes, Rayman has nothing in common with Mario. But both Mario and Rayman games are pure awesomness. I don't know how can Michel dislike Mario.

Well on my side i'm going to wait and see what the French names of the levels are. Because they are completely different in RO. Like for example the mocking bird boss, in English its "To bubblize a mocking bird" but in French it ends up as something along the lines of "The boss will whistle three times".I'm guessing its going to be different again.

Well, you can't translate pop culture references that well usually.

My point was that the levels name have a different creativity level in different languages.

Are you sure?Is The World Teensies in Trouble named "Once upon a time" or only the first level of the game?

Ptizêtres en détresse = Teensies in trouble. While Toad Story is Le royaume des Crapauds (Toad kingdom ) and castle rock is Baffe'n'Rock ( Slap'n'rock )in the demo.

I couldn't agree more with Spiral.
TheTempurmental wrote:Nobody seems to care when Mario games call their levels "World 1-2".
I do, and that's something I've always reproached these games for.

The French names weren't any more creative and still lacked the ability to evoke places. When it comes to the differences however, some references cannot be translated, as Rulez pointed out. Since the French title of the movie To Kill a Mockingbird couldn't be hijacked in the same fashion, they went with another movie, High Noon, which French title literally means “The train will whistle three times”.

I didn't know that the level names were references to things until you pointed it out now.

I try so dearly to get peoples' humour, but there's nothing about the comparison that could possibly work as a joke.

I suppose the blunt numerical level names kind of play into the original Mario's 8-bit iconography in a way. I've never liked the popular Mario games much – my favourites are Super Mario Land 2, which is very surreal and diverse in its environments, and Super Mario Sunshine, which approaches a Rayman 2-like atmosphere in it best levels.

Funny enough, I just played SML yesterday for the first time (and finished it) and Sarasaland felt kinda odd for me, but I did get suggestions that the sequel is better (and is apparently where Wario does his first appearance).

Super Mario Sunshine was an ass of a game to 100% it, it is probably one of the most frustrating Marios to complete. I like few things in particular but I don't classify it as one of my favourite Marios.

The joke was that the statement was ridiculous, but like I said, I didn't make it clear enough that I was being stupid on purpose. Wasn't very funny either, now that I think about it... Boy, I need sleep!
