I never advertised my Skype group, it just started from having a lot of people added on Skype and having large 4-5-person calls every now and then, eventually establishing a group, then adding more and more people over time.

But I can’t just add people to a Discord server…

Stop trying to recruit people on your Discord server or I will report you to a member of staff (preferably Rubber mark or Lysol).

But why do you care so much about about having your own community? Isn't this one good enough? I don't even consider I own it, it belongs to its members as far as I'm concerned.

Honestly? I think it's just simply because Fifo wants control over a community. Look how many times he's tried running and advertise his own forum. Even for the sake of just having admin status or a colored username. I'm not surprised that Discord server is just another attempt to control something. Likely not of any ill intention, but it seriously reminds me of the craze of the early 2000s of 'oh gotta have my own forum!'.

That or he's just seriously power hungry.

Hmm, I've always wanted to host a kind of anonymous chat thing reminiscent of the Dollars in DRRR, just because it would be quite cool to have founded a community of sorts. Though I've never tried since I doubt there would be much interest.

Not entirely, as it was mainly motivated by the fact that the official forums sucked. But there was a bit of that, of course.
