I never knew it meant ass. But I still believe Globox's spieces are called glutes. The word is too many times said and referred as a spieces name. Just think of it... "Gashous Asses", "Will the incredible ass please report to the welcome desk?"... wtf, and that for a 3+ game? o_o No, it must be a spieces name. How else to explain?

I don't have the English version, so I can't tell, but I'm quite sure it's not used as a species name. Wouldn't make much sense either in my opinion

Then what do you think it is?

I don't think there's an official name. The most likely idea would be... Globox, because of the Baby Globoxes

But there's no proof.

You didn't awnser my question...
I'm asking what you think a glute in the Rayman world is, because it is mentioned multiple times. And if it's mentioned, it must mean something.

Be more specific then

Once again,
here is the definition of the word glute. Moreover, considering that it's not written anywhere, people could easily have confused it with another word. There are thousands of possibilities, I haven't thought about it but
galoot may work as well.
So, as an answer to your question, glute stands for ass, naming a species after such a word sounds like a weird idea to me, and there's no proof that the word is even mentioned in the game.
That's already a lot for me

I was specific enough if you asked me... >_>
But I get your point. I guess Galoot (or something close to it) might be the real word we're looking for, since it refers to clumsy people, which Globox is.

Why not change the language?
Anyway,
Glute must be spelt wrong, or it's just a random made-up name with no meaning...

I only have the French version, so it's just a guess, but yeah, galoot sounds more logical

On what I've got, at the beginning you can change the language

Except it doesn't have American boxers in the middle -_-'

Well that theory is great, but I have an even better one:
Perhaps, Globox (and very close relations) would call their species 'Globoxes', simply because they have slapstick [and quite stupid] working minds. Suppose that their actual species name is 'Glute', because the woman in HH says this, along with Globox, who at the time is being brainwashed into a smartass. Glute could be the technical term, whereas Globox could be the simple term.

There's a gaping hole in your theory: no one can prove that the word glute is actually used in the game. It could be anything else

Glute... Galoot... Globox... You know what guys? Why would the people at Ubi Soft actually even think about the meaning of a simple word? Come think of it... Gluteus may be latin for "ass muscles", but it's not french. So they might just as well have thought the word up, thinking "Hey that sounds cool", and put it into the game without thinking about it's real meaning.
By the way... The word itself, whatever it may be, highly resembles the name of Globox, so it's without doubt a spieces name. Whatever the real grammar of that word is, we can't find out, so we simply spelled the word by how it was spoken. Glute.
And that's really how it all started.

That's what I call extrapolation O_o If the developers wanted to give the species a name, it would certainly have appeared somewhere else. Not to mention that it has nothing to do with the developers, but only with the English dubbers, because it doesn't seem to appear in any other versions...

Well, no other big time games have been released since R3, so we may hear it again. :/ In english version, that is.

I guess you're right. Anyway, I'm not even sure we could consider canon the inventions of a dubbing team, but this might be discussed
