My mistake if it sounded like that. I am actually a fan of HD remakes in general because they promote good games.

Rayman 3 HD is easily the worst port or HD update of any game I have ever seen by far.

Concurred about the HD update, but portwise, hmm...I'm not sure, it's either this or RDS.

What was so bad about the R3HD port?
I mean, it had the same problems as the original, but other than that? Just the textures and stuff?
Rayman DS was waaaay worse.

I believe there was a game breaking glitch in there somewhere.

Ah fair enough, guess I got lucky then. I don't understand how they can not patch that sort of thing.

Silent Hill HD collection is the worst HD port I've seen, otherwise yeah, Rayman 3 HD was a pretty fucking horrid port.
And yes I was one of the small people that encountered the glitch in R3HD, if you choose to re visit any of the levels you've beaten without visiting the Tower Of The Leptys, you ARE UNABLE TO GO TO THAT LEVEL, FOREVER. Your only option is to start a new game. I was fucking pissed since I worked hard on my score.

Yup, there it is.
I was unaware there was a HD port for that game, I'll take your word for it.

It's a shame that I hear the Rayman 3 HD port is terrible, I was planning on getting it someday. Oh well, best stick with the GameCube version.

Seems that it's fine as long as you finish the game before revisiting levels.
It's the only version I play anymore, since it's sofa friendly and HD

Point is, that shouldn't happen. The game also reportedly has few frame rate problems, the game has froze on me 3-4 times, etc.
It is a horrid HD port. Even the textures are disgusting, some of them still left completely pixelized rather than ported to HD. I did get all the trophies on R3HD, which was a pain in the ass, and at heart, still the R3 we know and love, but nonetheless, a crap port. I'd stick with the PC version or other consoles.

A pity modding isn't feasible, I think a few touches to the PC version of Rayman 3 could easily make it look spectacular and proper in HD, heck, it can run in it properly, for the most part.

I seriously think the modding community for the Rayman franchise is dead.
All Rayman games (excluding designer which has been heavily modded) have such dead modding communities. All the things people could do with modding Rayman 3, all the possibilities, hell even Rayman 2 I'm sure with few effort could easily be modded. Rayman Origins being the easiest to mod, even is very dead. Don't think I've seen any Legends mods yet either.

I couldn't agree more that it shouldn't have that problem.
And they could have made it look better, but at least it looks better than playing on last gen consoles.
And it has achievements, even if they're not great.
Anyway, they should make a new 3D Rayman, not focus on shitty ports. How many versions of Rayman 2 are there now?
PC, N64, Dreamcast, PSOne, PS2, DS, 3DS, iPhone. 8? And that's not counting GameBoy Color.

I do think Rayman 2 was given too many ports. I was fine with DC, PS1, N64, and PS2, after that it got crazy.

No, Rayman 3 HD is far, far, far worse.
- More than half of the skyboxes are broken and show up either as black or nonexistent.
- All water pools don't refract or reflect properly and give off a glitchy rainbow effect on the PS3 version,
- The adjusted lighting in some scenes is very bizarre, ugly and too bright.
- The shadows are completely broken in multi-layer scenes. If there's a lower platform near you, they will flicker between casting onto the foreground and background.
- The subtitle feature seems incredibly unfinished. Sometimes the text isn't even remotely identical to what the characters are saying, and the text is often offcentre.
- They censored a lot of lines, essentially ruining a lot of the game's humour.
- The music often cuts out or comes in at the wrong time.
- The first-person viewmode sensitivity is unspeakably high on the X360 version, resulting in it being impossible to get any kind of a Matuvu combo.
- The circle that lets you know if you're looking at a Matuvu doesn't appear on the X360 version.
- The first-person controls for the Shock Rocket and View modes are different for some reason, resulting in a constant confusion.
- If you choose to replay a previous level before having run through the entire game once, a gamebreaking glitch will occur in which, for some reason, every level suddenly becomes unlocked, but you cannot enter the final level to matter what you do.
This means that more than half the people who have played Rayman 3 HD have not been able to finish it due to this obnoxious glitch.
Rayman DS really wasn't that bad in comparison. There was nothing non-functional about it, it was just an N64 port with a bare minimum amount of effort put into it. The only actual problems with it are that the controls are slightly delayed and there are some random breaks in the geometry that can result in you falling through the map in a few select places. That's just lazy, Rayman 3 HD is infuriatingly terrible to the point where it can barely even be passed off as a pre-alpha developer build.

Hmm, obviously our experiences differed. I never had a problem with the HD port of Rayman 3.
I found the controls for Rayman DS obnoxiously bad, making it extremely hard to play.

I updated the post with even more points.
Perhaps they're arbitrary. I experienced all of the above except for the rainbow water, which was a problem every PS3 user seemed to have.

That's horrendous. It's a shame, as the HD textures do look quite good. Hopefully there'll be a new port someday.

Globox doesn't say anything when you punch him other than "ow" on the 360, I don't know if its the same for PS3. I also once went through the whole Reflux fight with no music because it suddenly stopped after around 10 seconds.

Shadows bugs like this happens with most old games you play on new console, for example I have Sonic Riders for xbox, but when I play it on 360 and its a cutscene, the characters all have a huge grey cylinder box under them, its supposed to be the character's shadow. I never figured out why it does this. They could have fixed this in R3 HD since its a port though.

Aren't the controls settings for this just reversed? I put them back to normal just by going in options. This also affects the flying vehicle thing and its weapon.

Jesus Christ.

It looks pretty HD on my laptop? Well at least, a better quality than the Xbox version which looked extremely blurry, maybe its just my TV dying though.
