Aw, what a lovely parent-child bonding activity.

< feels like < is in a parallel universe. Like <'s reality branched yesterday and < is living in the 'alternate' one rather than the canon one. There's probably a name for that.

< has probably felt like that a lot in <'s life.

< just managed to get a fire going that had been nothing more than smoking embers for over twelve hours! But then Dad put it out, to save the coal.

< hopes that fire was for aesthetic purposes and not due to ^'s heating cutting out

Well, it's complicated. We do light fires only at night, and they're mainly for aesthetic reasons. But due to the underpowered boiler we've had for the last few years, it is actually the only way to heat the upstairs radiators. < had forgotten that though until ^ mentioned it. < might've been able to argue to keep it lighting for that purpose.

< feels tired but < doesn't want to go back to bed or get breakfast.
< feels torn, not only by this but many other things, like how < wants to watch YouTube, but then < remembers < just got sidetracked from reading LotR, and when < tries to read it < is too tired to stay awake, but < doesn't want to get breakfast because < will inevitably lose the mood to read and want to watch YouTube again...
