That should be enough to run the emulator itself, but FRAPS can put a strain on it...

I wonder how well it'd record the PC game for you with out trouble... :?

It said the preorder will come with a free digital copy of Rayman 2. Is that the GOG version, because the GOG version is the only digital version.
Unless thay make a new one...

If it's the GOG version, then it's pretty funny as that means the official PC Rayman Origins will come with a soundtrack one of our members (Synthesis) put together for Rayman 2. :P

I seriously need to buy Rayman 2 off GOG, so I can play it on my main desktop... Otherwise I only have both my Windows 98 machines to play Rayman 2 on, but hey, the upside to that is 3DFX mode.

You know what? Today I'm going to upload the installed files for Rayman 2 and Rayman Arena for other people to use. I know I've said I would do it before, but this time I mean it.

Does this get rid of the issue for those of us who have 64-bit operating systems? Due to that 16 bit CD check Rayman 2 has, makes it a real pain. :tssk:

Yes, the only problem is that it doesn't want to read the setup file. You can run the game and it can read the CD upon startup just fine.

I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to make Rayman 2 run on my desktop, for a long time... :(

I'm sure I've seen GoG.com Rayman 2 torrents around.
I found this third-party piece of software that emulates a 3dfx driver, so I've set the game to run it via that.
As for the free version of R2 that comes with RO, I'm guessing if it weren't the GoG version, then it would still have to be DRM-free, since the original game wouldn't work with modern computers due to the 16 bit "DRM" of sorts.

Don't worry, I'm already half way through the process of uploading the pre-installed Rayman Arena files. Once that's done, I'll be uploading Rayman 2's.

EDIT:

Pseudo-install your crap now: viewtopic.php?p=656054#p656054

If you would link the source, I would be grateful. I kinda can't believe lack of any DRM in physical version of a recent UbiSoft game.

I think they said so in their twitter. I can't seem to get it to load properly right now.

It loads now, but I can't link the specific message. It's there though: https://twitter.com/#!/RaymanGame

Well, since my exams are over, here are the texture packs so far. I updated the list with a new, long-awaited 8th texture pack. ^^
1 - http://www.box.com/s/6jj6rql5af2l4m3ghe56
2 - http://www.box.com/s/ilsex758tacbeutd65h8
3 (part 1) - http://www.box.com/s/yotdhlm6jmnbkg1q8zyd
3 (part 2) - http://www.multiupload.com/TG1IPNAR1N
4 - http://www.multiupload.com/UMAOIXYPAB
5 - http://www.multiupload.com/I4AI9EB0YM
6 - http://www.multiupload.com/B1L77SJDD2 (+ image fix: http://www.box.com/s/5ctcxhjm144plfg9tase )
7 - http://www.multiupload.com/BM0GI2U84H
8 - http://www.mediafire.com/?r23qz46kqqq0d12

It includes every extractable texture starting with S, T, U and V.
That includes:
  • Moskito
  • Lots of spiky stuff
  • The magician's magic stick, which is actually a lever in his laboratory
  • Some beautiful temple constructions
  • A spiral door (no, I'm not talking about spiraldoor)
  • A temple background that strangely features multiple blue globoxes. I thought Globox was the only one of his kind? Well, at least before he got children...
  • The UI icons of some of the players (the same characters I missed aren't in this one either, but after I finish ripping the W, X, Y and Z pack, I'll try to figure out a way to extract the preloaded textures, which is where they are located)
  • Soda. Lots of it.
  • Trees and plants (why aren't you downloading it yet?)
  • So much sand that you'd think this was a Prince of Persia game.
  • High resolution skull coins (both sides) and skull teeth. Useful for RayWiki!
  • More nice stuff. Oh, stone men!
