Don't worry, he's an assist trophy. And that's all he'll be.Harpic fraîcheur wrote:Damn, I hate Shadow.. I doesn't want of him in the game ;_;

Re: Rayman (kinda) confirmed for Smash Bros. - VOTE Rayman
I'm thinking of having Rayman's A Smash attack be based on his Rayman 2 attacks and having the B Smash attacks be based on Rayman 1, 3, Origins, and Legends' telescopic fist attacks.

Re: Rayman (kinda) confirmed for Smash Bros. - VOTE Rayman
I think it should be nice if Rayman can punch people with the telescopic fist attack and also uses his powers (from R2).
Re: Rayman (kinda) confirmed for Smash Bros. - VOTE Rayman
Really? A laser attack would be better suited to a standard B attack IMO (since you can charge it). I would see the A-attacks based on RO/RL.Bradandez wrote:I'm thinking of having Rayman's A Smash attack be based on his Rayman 2 attacks and having the B Smash attacks be based on Rayman 1, 3, Origins, and Legends' telescopic fist attacks.

Yes, because you also charge Rayman's fist. Duh. Even so, Rayman 2's attacks is not ideal for Rayman's moveset.Pirez wrote:Really? I love Shadow but he doesn't need to be both an Assist Trophy and a character. Besides, if you want to play as Shadow, they should make him a skin for Sonic. They're too similar otherwise (in appearance, not in moveset obviously). If they really want to add another Sonic-franchise character, I'd much rather have Tails or Dr. Robotnik - someone distinctly different.
I agree that Rayman 2's Rayman doesn't have fighting techniques optimised for a brawler game. It'd be better to look at the moves from Rayman 3 (kicks, punches, telescopic fist) and Origins and Legends (kicks... punches... telescopic fist... lol).

Yeah, I really don't think the R2 moveset has anything much to offer. The R3 GBA moveset however...
bodyshot for down special?

I think Rayman 3 would be a much better game for reference for Rayman's moveset. Considering the fact Rayman 3 felt like more of a Brawler than a Platformer at times it makes sense. (I also really like his kick animation when he doesn't have his fists on the intro stage)Shrooblord wrote:It'd be better to look at the moves from Rayman 3
Agreed, I think Tails would offer a lot of unique stuff to Smash. Shadow is just an awful choice in my opinion. Keep him as an assist trophy.Shrooblord wrote:If they really want to add another Sonic-franchise character, I'd much rather have Tails

I was thinking of that exact thing! Doesn't Rayman also kick sometimes when he's in melee range with a Hoodlum?Rayfist wrote:(I also really like his kick animation when he doesn't have his fists on the intro stage)

As long as you're locked on yes.Shrooblord wrote:I was thinking of that exact thing! Doesn't Rayman also kick sometimes when he's in melee range with a Hoodlum?Rayfist wrote:(I also really like his kick animation when he doesn't have his fists on the intro stage)
Here's my idea of a few of Raymans moves
Neutral A: Repeatedly shoot fist 3 times to do minor knockback (kind of like Megaman's arm cannon)
Neutral B: Charge fist up (the R3 'wind up' I'm referring to here.) Charges similar to Kirby's hammer, though of course not quite as overpowered.
Up B: Helicopter, of course
Down B: A ground pound similar to his Origins move, if succesfully hitting the opponent they can remain airborne for a second like the enemies in RO.
And... the rest I have to think of, but I have a general idea for it. Any other interesting concepts?

Maybe he can spawn Purple Lums/Pink Rings as a side B much like Sonic and Pac-Man spawn trampoline-like things for their Up B.

It is an interesting idea, but I think the helicopter would be more recognizable. Rayman should be pretty strong in the grab department too, given his limbless body.

Happy Meal?Keane wrote: So everyone now seems to be pretty convinced that there's going to be more than one character for the DLC. Maybe what was deemed impossible can become reality after all..
(Shrek is actually listed in the top voted bar graph together with Goku, Lanky Kong and Toad. Art.)

So you'd like a helicopter for both his up and side B? Do you want a Link-like grab but with a floating fist instead of a chain? I guess he'd have strong horizontal recovery, yeah.Rayfist wrote:It is an interesting idea, but I think the helicopter would be more recognizable. Okay so I know I am not around much anymore but fuck it Imma tell you guys how I see his moveset happening:
Jab: his 3 punch combo he has in Origins/Legends
Dash attack: running tornado from Origins/Legends
down tilt: Leg sweep from Origins/Legends
up tilt: Using his Helicopter hair to damage and has a blowback effect if an enemy jumps over you while using this attack
side tilt: Using his Helicopter hair to damage and has a blowback effect if an enemy stands next to you while using this attack
Neutral air: the spin attack Rayman has in Origins/Legends when you press the attack button just as he hits the ground (but then in the air)
up air: an upward kick which some great range
side air: an overhead punch with his two hands like he does in Origins/Legends. has a sweetspot that would spike
down air: the crush attack from Origins/legends
down smash: kind of like a breakdance attack sending his feet flying left and right with great range
up smash: and uppercut... yeah it doesn't have to be very complicated
side smash: his R2 projectiles. they'd work like Megaman's sidesmash but smaller.
neutral special: Wind up fist from Rayman 1/3 (duh)
side special: Rayman fires the lockjaw to the direction he faces. if this hits an enemy the lockjaw janks them back (get over here)
down special: Rayman pulls a plum (or another one of the fruit things from Rayman legends) from the ground like peach and can throw it at enemies
up special: helicopter hair (of course)
he'd also be able to glide like peach but unlike peach he won't hover but will slowly descend to the ground
yay for moveset possibilities
that's just how I'd see him working out though. I'm sure Sakurai would surprise us if he makes Rayman playable

Shit! No, I mean for his up B, I'm really losing it todayShrooblord wrote:So you'd like a helicopter for both his up and side B?
These Rayman 3 exclusive attacks would single out some people no doubt, there are definitely more recognizable attacks.Ikke471 wrote: Rayman fires the lockjaw to the direction he faces. if this hits an enemy the lockjaw janks them back (get over here)
