Take all the cages in the first level, then die as you didn't take a photography. You will be back to the beginning of the level and then to the world map.

But that doesn't mean it isn't possible
at all. You should go for an answer that fits, not one that doesn't. Similarly, I could say that the Grolgoth never makes the lava rise inside the pillar in the final battle of R2, because in the PS1 version he doesn't.
