The British isles are Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales. GB is a union of these countries

It should only be Northern Ireland, Wales and England.

Well, those countries are part of Great Britain, anyway.

I think there are more islands that account for the "British Isles". I thought the Isle of Wight did, but I'm not sure.

I'm sure there are a few tiny islands floating about around here that are not part of it..

The British Isles are all the islands off the coast of mainland Europe, including Ireland, Britain, the Isle of Man, and the hundreds of little islands around them.

Great Britain is a union of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The British Isles = Geographic

Great Britain = Political

I hate the way pictures are scattered all the way throughout this thread. It's hard to find pictures of people. Someone should quote all f them in a single post.

That would be cool, but it would also be illegal, and unfair.

How would it be illegal? And by what law?

I guess she misread his post. It's a good idea that is neither illegal nor unfair.

The problem is, I don't think anyone would step up to that chore.

Great Britain is the union of England, Scotland and Wales.
The United Kingdom is the union of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (hence its full name: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).
I can't believe there are UK citizens who don't even know this

@Tobbe: Well, I was thinking about the Data Protection Act, and it being unfair as people might not want their faces publicly shown without being able to deleate or edit them...and such. Meh.

Come now, what has that got to do with posting images here? We're no more "illegal" than Facebook or Myspace.

Secondly, if users were that concerned with their own privacy, why would they post their pictures in the first place?

Thirdly, what difference does it make if they're posted on the original message?

Fourthly, the images can be deleted. If anyone wants their image removed just contact me or another mod.

In fact, Acarr's post wasn't stupid at all. First, it's illegal to post someone's picture without their consent, and this is what many people do on Facebook and MySpace. Of course, people who post their photos here can't reproach PC for letting them do, but they have the right to remove them whenever they want, and if there are no moderators to do it, they could take action against us.

I suppose if the photos were gathered together and posted in the original message then ordinary members would not be able to remove them. But... that's more of a 'technical' illegality than anything else. It's like disputing rights over images in a locked topic or post.

If there was a serious law about this kind of action, huge interactive online sites like Facebook would be finished.
