Hardly anyone has been saying that.
Anything can respect itself, but that doesn't really mean anything. You can respect yourself for any odd reason, even if you're a complete idiot, all you need is confidence. That doesn't mean you're doing it right.
Now I'm not saying Origins isn't a respectable game, because its gameplay and graphics are very respectable, but most people here aren't bothered by the game as a game, we're bothered by the game as a
Rayman game. Sure, it's Rayman and all obviously, but there was a certain feeling lacking from the game, mainly the story I would say. It was very simple in Rayman 1, simple enough so that it was easy to grab hold of and you constantly knew your goal. In Origins it almost seems extremely vague - by the time I reached Gourmand Land, I had forgotten why I was even on this journey, because a lot of the adventure seemed a little bit 'pointless.' In the past Rayman games the level progression made sense, and they linked together well (admittedly not as much in Rayman 1, but you still felt the progression there).
Another thing, like I've mentioned before, in comparison to Rayman 1, this game feels silly and in-your-face, whereas Rayman 1 was very surreal. At many points, Rayman 1 just seemed to have a much more creative take on the environment (The Desert of Didjiridoos was well done though). Here's an artwise comparison:

I like the second picture better.
Anyways....what could the reason be for the huge lack of updates for the 3DS version? I wonder if they encountered a problem or something. Surely the game is ready though if Nintendo mentioned the game in their update of "demos coming soon" way back when.

Speaking of the 3DS version, what's the release date for this game? According to wikipedia, it should be out in 20th of March in Europe. But RayWiki says that it will be released the 16th of March.
What's up with this madness? It could probably depend on the lack of activity on RayWiki also.

16th for Europe and 20th for NA. Although I highly doubt any of these dates will bring us some Rayman seeing as there has been no news at all.

Amazon UK reckons it's coming out on the 30th March...we'd better fix that methinks.

that is stupid. are you blind? ROs graphics are a lot more detailed, creative, fantasy etc. than in R1. But it seems that some people don't get that...so just stop walking in the game and look around. If you don't get it than.....I don't know, if anyone can help you. Execpt someone make a copy of Rayman 2 with different levels and a new story (thats the only thing that a lot of people will like).
Yeah you don't like the RO artstyle. ok. But this comparison gives me headaches (like a lot other posts from different users in this forum, but I don't have the time etc. to replay to every ... eh "things").

That would perhaps explain why people are so quiet about the release of the 3DS version of Rayman Origins, because oddly enough we still didn't listen a word about the eShop demo.

The Rayman twitter put up a tweet saying the 3DS version is now set for JUNE. For the purpose of tweaking apparently.

I'm not discrediting the art of rayman 1, which was good enough for that time, but I think it's ridiculous to criticize the latest game's art (which incidentally was produced by professional artists) just for being a retrofag. I feel that this game really did provide new ideas, and was very creative, indeed. Are you saying that a level based on Miami's icy fruit cocktails with a fiery mexican underworld hidden on it is not creative? Bullcrap.

Actually Rayfan, the levels in Rayman 1 were, while having interesting concepts, very bland. Look at the background for Band Land, wouldn't it be fun to run through those hills instead of performing superhuman feats up in the sky? What about Picture City? If Rayman Origins had handled it it would have looked like a, you know, city and not a bunch of floating platforms that just happen to be art supplies.
What I'm focusing on here is that Rayman Origins has better level design then a decade old game. It makes you feel like you are in the world of Rayman and not playing a frustrating game and pulling your hair out at the hundredth life you lost.
Basically Rayman 1 has interesting concepts, but does nothing with them, while Rayman Origins has interesting concepts and uses them fantastically.

I wouldn't be surprised if you wanted R4 to be a fully 3D game (Like with the glasses and that).
I don't.I just see things as they are: Rayman Origins is good for a game,as RayFan said, but not for a Rayman game.It lacks the magica touch and the story a good Rayman game has.

This.
Btw, awful news for 3ds owners, the game won't be released 'til june. Check Rayman's facebook
Oh well, who knows? maybe by that time, the game will include some interesting updates

Indeed. On the other hand, the 'magic' is lost a bit; it's a bit sillier (I have the same 'complaint' about Rayman 3), and, well, a bit un-Rayman-like. For example, those monster-bosses don't feel 'Raymanny' at all.
Still, it's a great game. Rayman 2 > Origins > 3 > 1, in my opinion, with the two Rayman 3 games for the Gameboy probably between 3 and 1.

I also wildly disagree with Rayfan's comparison btw, just too lazy for any huge reaction.

EOZ – Just so you know, I’ve deleted your thread, since its contents were an exact duplicate of your post here. It’s not a problem, but for future reference, posts regarding Rayman Origins should generally go in the Rayman Origins thread.

'The fuck, Sergio? Did you miss the entire point of my point of my post? I wasn't criticizing the quality of the artwork at all. Those pictures were merely a transcription of the magic I felt when I played each game. I still hold my point otherwise. From that comparison you've given, Origins may have brilliant detail, but in comparing the two, there's something about Origin's artwork that seems somewhat unsatisfying. I had mentioned this before, but no one took note. Look at Rayman 1's colours: they're lush, deep, dynamic, and really emphasize a certain mood. However in Origins' colours, they almost look somewhat desaturated and bland. Where are the vibrant hues of green and blue, and the contrasting leap of purple? Sure there's green, lots and lots and lots of green, but that's quite an uninteresting shade of green. The warmth and chills of the pallet in the first game aren't present. In fact, I think the colour pallet they chose in some scenes were both unappealing and downright disgusting, such as the end of "Aim for the Eal." One more point is that Origin's artwork looks far too realistic; it's easy to imagine them being real life scenarios, but Rayman 1, and even Rayman 2 and 3 had obscure, out-of-this-world backgrounds that held a certain level of mystery which I loved. Origins has -->
almost <-- none of that. Besides, that picture you've shown isn't even from the game, and the final product didn't seem to have nearly as much detail.
Besides all that, I was actually originally criticizing the foreground's artwork, which again, you've completely missed. Apparently you would rather take the time to call me a retrofag than actually read my posts on the previous page, which people seem to have an extraneously hard time understanding for some reason. Now to me, the Rayman 1 image makes it look like Rayman is actually there. The Origins image makes it look like Rayman has been pasted on top. This was my main serious complaint. The art styles that the foreground and backgrounds are drawn in is completely different. Like Spiraldoor mentioned earlier, it looked very nice the way in the first game that Rayman was drawn the same way as the environments were, but now in Origins, it just doesn't look right at all. In fact, that was the first thing I'd noticed when I started the game, and it's been bugging me ever since. Now that we can hack the textures, some of us might be able to work on creating character sprites that blend with the background a little better.

?! What the hell happened for the 3DS version getting a 3 months delay? No wonder why there isn't any novelties about the 3DS demo!

Perhaps they have to modify the game so it can be playable on the smaller 3DS screen.

That would take a week, tops, not six months.
