I'm not convinced that this thread has gone into a massive 'let's all hate Rayman origins-fest', as it seems far from that, although I do think that over the last few pages it's gone a tad negative in a way

Check out the award ceremony and interview on the BAFTA website. The artistic director says we’ll probably see a new Rayman game at E3.

I knew RO got a BAFTA award but... A NEW RAYMAN GAME AT E3?!?! YESYESYESYESYESYES!
Ahum... I lost my coolness there...
Now we'll have to wait till E3 wich will take a long time because we're (probably) looking forward to it.

Wow, a BAFTA award...
If I heard well, is the artistic director hinting there's a Rayman game being prepared in the oven? I shall watch E3 2012 when the time comes.

E3 2012 just went up my priority list by a couple of points.
There's other things that I want to see there as well, such as Fall Of Cybertron.

I hope not, the oven is a terrible place to prepare games! It's too hot and there is little space inside!

Your humor has now gone down to such a low level that if you just lower one more you're on mine
Aaaaaanyway I think we are all GLaD to hear that there is a new rayman game coming ^______^

I admit I would get impressed to see another Rayman game being announced this E3. What if it is related with the educational game pictures we've seen for the DS?
Or... Rayman Origins 2?

It’s more likely to be the 3D game Ancel has been mentioning for the last year or two. I wonder if the BAFTA win had anything to do with getting the new game made, especially considering the underwhelming sales.

It would be pretty good news a new 3D platformer of Rayman.

It is awesome as long as it is "Rayman" in the title. I will watch E3 live as I did with RO. As long as it's not a port of R2 I am happy.

I do have a feeling it's gonna be a 3D Rayman-game. But it could easily be a Rayman Origins sequel since graphics already are done. Maybe they'll include Mr. Dark in that game instead. Who knows?

There's a new game about to come out already? That's unexpected, seems like the franchise is really prepared to once again go strong. Also, I'd say going 3D from here would be the most logical thing to do in any case, for the sake of variation.

In the interview on the BAFTA website, Christophe Villez and Celine Tellier switched to French and had a quick conversation before they revealed that there would be a new Rayman game. Could someone check to see if they said anything of interest?

That's why I'm kinda "shaken", because I do have conscience that Rayman Origins just came out to the market for a couple of months, and Ubisoft is already preparing another game? That would be fantastic!
The next E3 I'll probably be or in the very end of classes or in the very beginning of Exams preparation, but no matter what, I'm going to watch it live again.

It’s not that strange. They started work on R2 almost straight after R1 was released, and I recall an interview from around 1999 in which Ancel discussed his plans for R3 and R4 (which ultimately became RM and R3).

Oh? Rayman 3 became Rayman M? I'm really interested in his initial ideas and such.

It was really nothing important. He just said he didn't understand the question first. Celine Tellier then asked him in French.
I'm excited that there will be a new Rayman game though! I hope it's a 3D game (
with atmosphere) but I'll be happy if it's a 2D game (
with atmosphere) too.

I'm not sure. I've played 4-player co-op and that worked just fine. It all depends on how well you can work together and whether or not you mind being thrown off-screen a couple of times.
Oh, and for the reference, my TV screen is maybe a foot across and it's a good old chunk of plastic, not a flat screen. My experiences have not been based on a really big screen; quite the contrary.
Rayman wins BAFTA! Go Ancel! Go Ancel!
Anyway, I'd love to see a new Rayman game announced, but I'm just keeping my hopes low - I think it might just be a minor side-track game or a port release - that way the surprise will be even greater should it be a full-blown sequel, yet the disappointment will stay low should it be nothing special.

Well, that’s what Phoenixan told me a few years ago.

I highly doubt they would show a port or ‘side-track game’ at E3, especially considering that Villez only revealed the game in answer to a specific question about what sort of technological and artistical improvements we would see in future Rayman games.
