Agreed. Plus, I don't really like the whole combo mode, or the Lum Kings for that matter. I'm playing a platformer, let me enjoy it; don't make it into a speedrun.
Well, they may exist, but don't put rewards on them (like the mini games which you unlock by gaining a huge score, or the costumes, which you get by getting those medals, which you, in turn, get by rushing through the whole game).

I really liked the comboing from Rayman 3 and the Lum King from Origins, because they provide a challenge where there's always improvements to be made. However, it is nice to not have to worry about a score in Rayman 1 and 2, for example. It's a lot more relaxed.

That's true, and as I said, the mechanic itself is nice. But it shouldn't be necessary to speedrush through a level to unlock some stuff. Save that for a time trial mode where the objective is to beat the level as fast as possible, like Rayman Origins did.

oh don't exagerate, except for a couple levels (especially moody clouds) it is easy to get 350 lums and you don't have to pull up amazing combos with the lums kings. just open your eyes and make sure you get most of the lums.
in rayman 3 it's more annoying as the scoring system is more obscure, I read your score can vary depending on which gems you pick 1st
and time trial in RO is amazing. I did speedruns in other games, but they usually just add a timer and that's it. but RO is designed for time trial. the way you can control rayman, the level are built, the enemies placed... everything fits just right for speedrun. that's amazing how, if you time your 1st jump right, the platforms and enemies will then present themselves in the most optimal way to allow you to keep a maximal speed.

I think you're the one exaggerating; it's impossible to get the maximum score in most levels by playing normally. Most of the lums disappear / fly away after some time, for example.
But yes, the time trial feature is indeed nice, and I actually like that.

hum, I see about which lums you talk. but you rarely have to chase them very far. a few of them are hard to get before they disappear, but really, they are rare. maybe it's a platformer, but from time to time you have to be able to use the run button lol. or will you complain that you have to be fast in mecha no mistake too?
oh and I wasn't talking about a maximum score, I was talking about getting 350, which usually leaves a lot of room for mistakes.
actually, I would say it's on moskito levels, that you can't get a good score by playing normally. I think those are annoying because you really have to retry a lot to get a decent score.

That's true, but it's the same through the whole level, it creates a feelign as if you're rushing through. It isn't that it's hard per se, but you go from combo to combo; you need to be fast through the whole level to catch the fleeing lums.
With maximum score I meant all the Electoon medals, so I guess we're talking about the same.

I don't feel very rushed when I try to get a good score. on some levels there are hardly any lums kings so you can go slowly, you just have to make sure you don't get hurt and get every coin of death. the 2 levels where I feel rushed trying to get a good score are skyward sonata and snake eyes.
and when I say maximum score, I mean scores such as rayrobi's ones. so yes, we are both talking about just getting the medal.

I do, but it's being spammed by serebii.net and Equestria Daily, so I won't see it anyway.
Help people, I just ripped textures from the game, where are pipes from Moody Clouds?
edit: omg this is weird, I changed the file extension to .dds and Paint.NET says that there was an "unexpected error". Wtf. Is there an easier way to get those textures or am I out of luck?

It's just a pun on the name Maïté, an old fashioned French name often used ironically. There might be a link with
this person too.

Very nice, but my texture is all messed up, you know, weird colours around the pipes.
Should I save it as a .TGA instead of bmp?

That's normal. The alpha channel should take care of that. Whenever it's BMP or TGA doesn't matter, because both support alpha channels.
