WARNING!

Mario Kart 8 has recently been reported to be bricking people's Wii U's. The exact cause is unclear, and it's only been effecting US gamers from what I have heard, but I recommend steering clear of the game for a bit.

The cause may have something to do with the game writing online data, your connection getting interrupted during the process, and the game not being able to go back and redo it. How this bricks the Wii U is beyond me, but the common link between all reports is something related to online (actually playing online, uploading Time Trial data, etc).

Regardless, play the game at your own risk. I'm still not sure what's causing it. Luckily that free game promotion at least gives everyone another game to play.

Someone looked into it and speculated that it had something to do with the game writing data to the online servers, but getting interrupted, and being unable to re-write the data. This makes sense, as online disconnections in MK8 are a known issue.

Luigi's Death Stare was shown on Fox News.

Well, publicity is publicity.

Considering Nintendo of America's Twitter is very meme happy, I'm surprised they haven't took advantage of this yet.

I hope it's because they are saving it for E3. :P

Heard of it, but from what the poster implies, it's not something I care about too much regardless of whether it's real or not.

I've heard of it too, but I'm reserving any emotion until it's proven.

Anyways, on the topic of the Ace Attorney Trilogy, I wonder if they'll give Apollo Justice and Investigations the same treatment sometime, it must feel weird not being aware of the gap between Destinies and Trials.

To be quite honest, Apollo Justice doesn't need one because not a lot of important developments happen that can't be summed up really quickly (aside from knowing Klavier Gavin's story, but players of Destinies could just take him at face value and not miss much). The series was supposed to finish with Trials, so Apollo Justice actually disconnects itself pretty well from the original Trilogy, and Dual Destinies is presented in a way so that can be it's own thing. Also, Apollo Justice isn't very good as far as Ace Attorney goes.

Investigations is a similar case, but I do think it's a great game. However, it's a pure spin-off, and bares no important relation to other games in the series. It stands on it's own.

And quite frankly, if they aren't going to localise Investigations 2, they aren't going to remaster the original. Apollo Justice and Investigations looked and sounded a lot nicer than the original trilogy anyway, since they were originally developed for DS, while the original trilogy actually came out on the GBA first (in Japan).
