Keane wrote:Kind of. Something that will just immediately turn me away is when I'm willing to be a little more open and I get flat out rejected.
I'm sorry to tell you this, Keane, but if you want to be more open, it's like anything: you will have to try things and see what works and what doesn't work with people, as you are unique, so like everybody, you will need to find the right way for you to exchange with people (not only simply talking, but the way you express yourself). And believe me, at the beginning, you will get "flat out rejected" a good number of times.
Don't forget not to overreact too much about people's reactions. You are not in their mind: sometimes they are just not in the mood, or something else is worrying them. In the case of your family, if you want to talk about anything with your mother or your brother, and they tell you they don't have time for this, then try again later. There is nothing bad in trying and getting a negative answer, this is how you build confidence in yourself.
Keane wrote:As for online, RPC's just kind of a different thing I think. I can't name anyone here who's got that kind of shallowness that I really can't stand.
I would like to put a little point here: RPC is a place where expression is, almost all the time, shared with other people through writing. And writing shows very little of what a person is. Sure, we can talk about a lot of things here, but remember that here there are no usual conversation blockers like physical appearance, glances, behaviour thingies, and hush-hush...ing?
I remember when I was talking with Shrooblord or Hunchman only by writing at the beginning, and then I met them on Skype. Although it only made my opinion about them way better (seriously, you guys are nice to chill out with), the difference between before and after was significant in terms of the representation I had of them.
So, Keane, do not forget to try to find nice people you can do things with in your more "common", day-to-day life. It's important, it helps you feel better and gain self-confidence. I was like you in my teenage years: anxious about other people's views, shy (and rejected). I simply needed to find nice guys I could hang around with. And I didn't meet most of them during high school or middle school, where it's obvious that people who don't want to belong to a group or a specific code are a bit rejected by their peers (it's a bit like that here, and according to what I read, even more extreme in the US). Do not lose faith, but do not think it will happen like magic one day. Work on it. You will feel even more self-satisfied if you manage to make something you are not naturally comfortable with work.

What I like to ponder is how you see far more younger people like this than adults, the reason being that you're almost guaranteed to find something to grab hold of sooner than later, whether it's through, college (meeting like-minded folk who will willingly go up and talk to you) or simply through yourself/your peers maturing. It requires effort on your part, yes, but the automatic hormonal/developmental drive to become independent will only motivate you more and more as time goes. Before you know it, you could even end up being the one walking up to and greeting people or starting a conversation, with confidence, the fear of being rejected largely abolished due to the fact that you have a strong, comfortable sense of self; you're someone who looks at people you fear might reject you (or could just as well welcome you) not intimidated, but at eye level, on even ground.
Many of us aren't there yet. I'm not, though I'm certainly on my way (quite unlike I was two or three years ago), especially just this past year, and it's a wonderful, empowering feeling.
- My brother's girlfriend just bought a [cheap, shitty] car a few months ago, and just last week we found out it was getting mouldy. Since I was tired of having to parallel-park between his and her car, I volunteered to brave the storm and park her car round back (he certainly wouldn't, as he's really allergic to mould). I walk outside and notice it's a little wet, as it had been raining earlier. The car windows seem appropriately wet too, until I realised they were completely dry on the outside; the wet was on the inside. I open the car door, and it's like a rainforest, the inside of the windows soaking, dripping wet with unbearably muggy air. There are white mould spots all over the gear shift and seats, and water sloshed on the floor as I drove.
+ Having held my head out the window and only taken three or four breaths, I was fine once I'd parked and gotten out, quite relieved actually.
- The next morning, I woke up with my sinuses painfully inflamed. The next day was the day I was to drive across the American border myself for the first time, a two hour drive there and a two hour drive back. Before I'd even left the city, I felt like a rusty dog turd, starving and incredibly achy.
+ Deciding eventually that I would rather be caught in rush hour than go on like this, I pull over into a McD's and order just a Bacon McMuffin and an apple juice. Ten seconds after my first bite I felt it invigorating me, and within five minutes I was driving happily to the border.
+ The crossing was smooth there and back, I got to pick up my order, and I remembered what cheap, flimsy material American money is made out of.
+/- Looking after Polish kids tomorrow.

+ Going to my grandpa's house today.
+ I'm gonna watch an exciting soccer match with him :3
- My house is a disaster

- Fred Fucks from AVGN Adventures is really hard in Normal mode (I don't get why it was hard for me in Easy mode, in that mode I would kick his ass again and again and again.)

± That sort of thing happens to me too quite often.
+ I've really stopped caring.
– That's probably why my dreams have got so much weirder over the last few months.

Now I'M intrigued! I hope it's not the same sort of thing. You've mentioned these weird dreams before, that's still going on?

EDIT: Actually that's rather personal, I won't enquire further

– I can't seem to come up with anything specific. It's just that there used to be thoughts that I'd try to block, but now I make less of an effort to do so. Mostly sacreligious-type things.
± Hence infernal/apocalyptic dreams. They can be interesting though!
– The dream I had on Thursday night was quite upsetting though. Also not anything I'm comfortable discussing!

Ahh yeah, you're Catholic if I remember right?
- Sorry you've been having a rough time, I hope I didn't bring up anything raw for you
- I think I grazed my head today. I hadn't noticed that either. It stings

+ Yep, Catholic!
+ You didn't really, I'm quite all right.
– Not feeling the Christmas spirit as much as I should I think.
– You still haven't said what's upsetting you!

- Haha, I shouldn't have made that post. I keep writing stupid vague ass shit and then regretting it after it's too late, that's why I tried to move on kinda. I think I just want to get it out and then I forget this is a public forum with, you know, people on it
-- I've tried to write this a number of times but i'm not feeling it man, sorry...

– ^^If that's a minus, it's very bad, sorry to hear that.
+ ^I think I know that feeling too!
– Wish I could figure out why Steam refuses to launch mods for me.
± 6.66 ppd.
± Feel I must elaborate on what I said before – my recent dream was actually not infernal (in the literal sense), it concerned earthly matters, but in a very surreal way, and I think it ended up with my having Alzheimer disease for some reason.
