By throwing the keg in the air, and while it is airborn, you get shot by a pirate, then you catch the keg.

Grab a barrel, Face the pirate logo, throw the barrel at it, demage yourself, quickly grab the new barrel, quickly set it on fire, and crash it to the wall before you lose invincibility

I've not heard of your method, OCG, could you demonstrate, I'm sorry, but I'd like to be sure.
