What I mean is that today/tomorrow/yesterday/next week/next mon--EVERYDAY of my life I'm gonna hate SELFIES.
I really, really hate 'em. So much, I would make a petition online to "kill the selfies"

Wow, wow, wow. This went to far. Pretty much we made almost half a page complaining (well, me) about Selfies.
Alright, that post was kind of a joke. No, I don't have hatred against instrumentals, they're cool, even without the voice, so let's make something clear here:
I like instrumentals. The girl was annoying for me, so I looked up a Instrumental, that's all.
On the other hand, I think it's moment to close the talk about Selfies. I think we're taking it far, maybe half a page, about something of society that almost all the members don't care about.
The bright side, of nothing, yes, that post was a joke. I didn't know you would take it like that, sorry then.
So. That's pretty much I have to say about the topic. I better shut up myself before any mod busts me!

Showing off the wardrobe you've put together, your hairstyle, yourself in a certain moment, or at a certain place, it's like taking a picture of anything else you own for the sake of wanting to show it to people (not tockin boot dicks here), or even drawing a picture. Just to add to the selfies debate, I don't hate selfies, per se, but they do seem to have a strong connection to some quite, imo, corrupt social media websites. That doesn't make me a selfie guy personally, though. And also, when I first heard the term 'selfie stick' I thought that meant a plastic dildo.

I don't like the word "selfie"... Not sure what it is, but it doesn't sit well with me. Other words have such a wonderful history and meaning to them, most composed of 2 or 3 short words from different languages chaged slightly and stuck together... The English language basically just takes all of the best words from other languages, like "pyjamas". That's, like, indian, I think...
Selfie, however, has no meaning. It's the word "self", as in a picture of one's self, but the "ie" suffix doesn't really make sense, as it's supposed to anthropomorphise an inanimate noun or verb...

Think of it like "self-portrait" -> "self-" -> "self-" + "-ie [dim.]" = "selfie": a little self-portrait. Glad your sleeping schedule's a little better! You can fix it bit by bit~

"-ie", diminutive. As in 'dearie' , 'sweetie' etc.

"-ie" is more to do with personification, is it not? Like how your examples turn "dear" and "sweet" into people.
Selfies are not always small, anyway, are they? They're just pictures of oneself taken by oneself.
I think something like "autophotograph" or just "autoprint" would have much more meaning and isn't as silly.

It has both functions. "Dear" and "sweet" are also used for people, ja? And compared to a full-blown self portrait, selfies are rather diminutive in concept. I recommend Spanish 'autofoto' si todavía no estás convencido por 'selfi'
