Re: The β version of WikiRayman is available!
The ones that shoot rows of arrows at you? They're also known as Hoodlums Caporals.
Re: The β version of WikiRayman is available!
Thanks for the tip
. But the information is not true, Rayman already meets a hoodlum caporal in Part 3 of Clearleaf Forest
.
I made a small article about the manual from Rayman 3, does anyone have a good image of it so i can make a nice information box to the right ? I can't find anything
.
I'm working on a article about the Desert of the Knaaren now, i'll be working on the Longest shortcut after i finish the article

Re: The β version of WikiRayman is available!
By the way, I noticed two things about species. Jano is called a fire crab, what the hell is that supposed to mean? And Rayman's species was changed into Limbless being, but is that really a species?

Re: The β version of WikiRayman is available!
Most likely yet another fan term courtesy of Dreyfus. No-one knows what they really are. As for limbless being, well I'm not sure on that either but I'd rather call Rayman's species limbless something rather than a Raymanian.

Both modifications were made by El Dango as a guest. I'll send him a PM about it

Re: The β version of WikiRayman is available!
Okay, i'll answer:
1. The one-eyed creatures from the Cave of Bad Dreams are called fire crabs, as far as i know. That means Jano must be a fire crab too. I don't remember where this information comes from, but i think it's official.
2. There is no official name for Rayman's species yet, and calling them raymanians wouldn't really make any sense. I call them limbless beings, but if that doesn't species, i think you should just write 'unknown'.
Also, i think there are too many theories in the article about Rayman himself. There should only be facts. The worst theory must be the one that claims Rayman 2 takes place in a different world than Rayman 1. It has been proved wrong so many times.

Re: The β version of WikiRayman is available!
Fire crab makes sense to me since they breathe fire, but I don't see how they could be crabs at all. :/
Oh and another thing everyone should read: We want NO ANTI-RABBIDS WANK on our wiki kthnx. I just removed a line someone from Bristol, UK saying "Rayman is slowly being replaced by Rabbids". It's biased against rabbids and I'm not having any of that here.

Re: The β version of WikiRayman is available!
Do you know where you learned about it? Because it doesn't sound official at all for me, just like Glute being the name of Globox's species. If we can't quickly gather solid evidence, we'll have to revert the modification. As for the one-eyed creatures you mentioned, people usually refer them as Mini-Janos. It's not official either, but at least it makes sense ^^El Dango wrote:1. The one-eyed creatures from the Cave of Bad Dreams are called fire crabs, as far as i know. Raymanian is the language indeed, but limbless being can't be a species name in my opinion. Moskito is limbless too, but we can't say he is the same species as Rayman. I'd personally go with Unknown.El Dango wrote:2. There is no official name for Rayman's species yet, and calling them raymanians wouldn't really make any sense. Feel free to remove useless information, then we'll see if it's good workEl Dango wrote:Also, i think there are too many theories in the article about Rayman himself. There should only be facts. I would have gone with fire beasts instead of fire crabs.StaceyW wrote:Fire crab makes sense to me since they breathe fire, but I don't see how they could be crabs at all. :/

Kinda like butterflies, except that they have nothing to do with butter OR flies.StaceyW wrote:Fire crab makes sense to me since they breathe fire, but I don't see how they could be crabs at all. :/

Well, i just call them fire crabs, because i think it sounds okay. I also have my own name for Chenille's species: Shadow worms.Hunchman801 wrote:As for the one-eyed creatures you mentioned, people usually refer them as Mini-Janos. It's not official either, but at least it makes sense ^^
Show me an official source with the sentence "Raymanian is the language of Rayman's species" (or something like that), and i will believe you.Hunch wrote:Raymanian is the language indeed
I've allready done that once, but it was edited, and the theory was back. I'm affraid that would just happen again...Hunchie wrote:Feel free to remove useless information, then we'll see if it's good work

Did you mean Raymanian? If yes, then it's because you can choose Raymanian as a language in Rayman Revolution.El Dango wrote:Show me an official source with the sentence "Rayman is the language of Rayman's species" (or something like that), and i will believe you.

That's just gibberish. Not a language. Ubisoft just named it Raymanian as a joke.
And sorry about the typo. Fixed it.

Re: The β version of WikiRayman is available!
But it isn't a language. It can't be.
When Rayman says "Carabew stew", it can mean anything from "Hello, my friend" to "WHAT DID YA' SAY ABOUT MY MOTHER!!??".
And he also says "Howudyu noma nae" alot in the game, and it allways means different things.
+ Rayman never say the same things as the other characters. Ly doesn't even say stuff. You just hear some creepy noise.
+ Calling the language 'Raymanian' would just be stupid. I'm sure Ubisoft could make up something better, as they have proved it before.

Re: The β version of WikiRayman is available!
Mathematically, you can invent an infinity of languages that perfectly match Raymanian, so your first point isn't valid. Depending on context, accent, and many others things, what you hear can mean totally different things.
As concerns the name, it sure is stupid, I totally agree with you. However, I don't see any reason why it would be a joke. It doesn't make sense to call the language after Rayman, but well, it's official stuff

Re: The β version of WikiRayman is available!
Raymanian is the language spoken by all intelligent creatures on Rayman's world. They probably don't call it "Raymanian" themselves, that's just us humans' name for it.
Mr Dark's laugh must be Raymanian for "You're doomed Rayman", and Betilla's "Doo-doo-doo" is Raymanian for whatever she's saying to Rayman at the time you hear it.
You actually get to see Raymanian text on the walls of the citadel where you fight Mr Dark, on the doors in the Sanctuaries, and on the walls of the tunnels in the Desert of the Knaaren. If you look at these writings, they actually seem quite similar.
"Raymanian" is NOT the name of the limbless species, it's the name of the gibberish language.

It's not mine either. And I thought this sentence summed up the whole thing quite well:
It's funny how some people don't even realise that the others actually agree with them.spiraldoor wrote:They probably don't call it "Raymanian" themselves, that's just us humans' name for it.

Raymanian is a joke. Believe me, i know i'm right!!
And about what Spiral said: The noises in both R1 and some versions of R2 is just random gibberish. It's not even near being anything that could look or sound like a language!!!

Re: The β version of WikiRayman is available!
The name could be a joke, but as I said, it's mathematically possible to create an infinity of languages that match what is said in the game. It's obvious that people in Rayman's world don't call it Raymanian anyway.
