That's typically the case with 3G versus Wifi. Though, if they're running off the same netowork, then I have no idea. Regardless, you laptop's speed is still bloody stellar.emshomar wrote:Why the heck is the internet speed on my laptop slower then on my phone?!!

Re: Your internet?
I had that same experience. We used to have Verizon and switched to Charter not long ago, and I couldn't be any happier now because Verizon was shit. The one we have now is also 10x faster and cheaper, plus our previous Internet wasn't even unlimited.emshomar wrote:When the contract with Telekoms crappy internet finally was over last april we switched to Unitymedia and experienced internet 10x faster and cheaper than telekom. Pfff and telekom is telling that faster than 6000KBit/s isn't possible. What a stupid company

The same provider offers now 100Mbps up and 5Mbps down for the same price. We have to wait until the contract ends so we can switch to that faster connection.

Re: Your internet?
3G traffic limits ahoy.. well.. sort of limited anyway
This is what happens when I run into the rather ridiculous 3G/3.5G (HS(D)PA) traffic limits on my phone(s), which happens quite often and then limits me to GPRS-like (64KBit/s) speeds.. at least on the download side of things
Regular DSL connection speed isn't anything worth talking about either..
.. just your average oversold Vodafail (ex-Arcor) DSL which slows down to a crawl every evening..
Gonna get Unitymedia/UPC/Liberty Global cable as soon as the Vodafail adhesion contract¹ runs out.
¹= "stay with us for 2 years or pay 150euro to get out of the contract early"

The joys of using light to transmit data, eh? Optical Fibres are one of the things I've studied in the past, though it's focusing on the theory behind it.

Can't wait until I upgrade to Faster-Than-Fifo Supreme package.
