Yeah, Clevo is amazing. Their bodies feel extremely durable and high-quality too, like a luxury car seat. I got that one for $900 off Craigslist, modifications included.

well fukc you, ive never capped out my ram despite having cubase, 3ds max, liek 10 photoshop documents and cryengine and more open at a time, and for all intents and purposes i likely wouldn't notice a huge improvement with an i7 ivybridge.~

K Series Intel CPUs are the one with the unlocked clock multiplier, right? Which allows for more extensive overclocking?

My bad, you seem to be right, I thought you had one.

Hmm, my list is outdated, I've acquired a few retro machines since then, and pretty well 'lost' the one that was in the list. Thanks to a leaky battery destroying traces on the motherboard. :tssk:

So I made sure on any other machine, those old barrel type batteries are replaced.

One of my favorite machines I have would be my Gateway 2000, with the EISA motherboard.

Intel Overdrive 100MHz
32MB of RAM.
Tseng Labs ET4000 ISA video card. (I don't know how much VRAM it has, but I will take a guess of at least 1MB worth.)
Adaptec 1742 SCSI EISA controller with FDD controller built on.
340MB Maxtor SCSI HDD
544MB Fujitsu SCSI HDD.
SoundBlaster AWE64 Gold
3Com Etherlink III network card.
5.25" Floppy Disk Drive
3.5" Floppy Disk Drive
NEC SCSI Caddy Based CD-ROM Drive.

Ah, I love these machines...

Both my desktop and laptop run off 32GB of RAM. :bad:

Though my desktop still runs off a Core i7 2600k and a GTX 580 and my laptop's on an Intel Core i7 3610QM and a GTX 675m. Not the very latest but both serve me quite well. :)

Yes. I've had overclocked my desktop to 4.5GHz on air with success before. Though I'm running it at stock speeds right now since I've had a major RAM upgrade. I haven't felt like spending the time and effort it takes to overclocking it to that point again and ensuring it's stable. Time consuming stuff if you want it right.

I have a semi-new dell desktop. I'm getting a laptop at some point. Not sure on the specs, it's just the one from the shop! I really like the Dells!

As I changed my laptop 3 months ago, here are my lil' specs :

MSI GE Series, modèle GE70.

- Processor Intel Core i7-4700MQ 2.4 GHz (Quad Core 6 MB L3 Cache)..
- HDD 750 GB 7200 RPM.
- 17"3 screen.
- Graphic card NVidia GeForce GTX 765M (Video Memory 2 GB DDR5).
- 12 GB RAM DDR3 1600 (4+8).
- Room for a SSD drive (I haven't bought one yet).

And all the other little things like gold jack plugs, BD Reader, etc...

What disappointed me is that the integrated micro is even worse than the one of my last laptop, which was worth half the price of this one 3 years ago...I have a hard time talking with people on Skype with it even if I changed settings so it amplifies every sound received.

If you are from Europe and ever go the US, please, buy a new laptop : they are cheaper here and you don't have to pay taxes when you go back to your continent. Really, with the newegg offer I saved around 800 dollars compared to the european model (this laptop is worth 1600-1800 dollars in Europe, and I bought it for 1050$).

At least now I can record footage because my computer is not terrible anymore. I took some time getting accustomed to the positions of the keys because I'm european and even if I put the keyboard into AZERTY mode, it can be problematic if you rely too much on the visual of your keys to write something. Fortunately, I only have to watch the keyboard to see the positions of the keys and not what's written on them. Anyway, there are still some of them which don't have the same place as on the AZERTY keyboard, like the "<>", which is on the right side of the space bar.

Plus, Dells are rather easy to repair and buy parts for. Like if the keyboard or screen needed to be replaced.

Hmm, I've always been a bit ambivalent about Dells.

There seems to be a lot of anti-ness towards Dell. Well from people I have spoken to online. We've had 3 Dells now, and they've all been seriously reliable and great performers. They were also good money too. We'd never switch. Maybe they just make bad laptops? No idea.

Dell used to suck. They're fine now though.

Ah I guess that's where the anti-ness stems from. I guess it'll take a while for people to come round to the fact that they're pretty good now!

I have one of those netbooks, though I haven't used it in years for obvious reasons.
