Honestly I would like if they gave the characters choppy animation, Seeing that it has a stop motion style to it

At first I thought they did, because quite a few cutscenes have choppy animation. But I think they're just incomplete animations:
Globox & Teensy @ 12:50
Barbara @ 2:35
(I saw this in other cutscenes shown in other videos as well, but there are so many videos about it that it's hard to dig it up)

By the way, I want to point something out that went relatively unnoticed. The Retold devs made a statement that they are not using AI for the game, but an ex-Ubisoft Milan artist who left as the game was starting development seems to be casting some doubt on that on twitter.
Of course it's just a laughing emoji, and the guy seems very negative about the project in general, but I don't think this reaction can be interpreted in any other way.

The Jano theory for the new villain makes some sense, but isn't Jano, like, huge? That doesn't seem to be the case for the Retold guy.

There are two types of companies right now: those who admit to using AI and those who lie about it. :P

That's a good point about the Jano theory. As much as I love the idea of tying the story back to the Cave of Bad Dreams, Jano is pretty big. It is really hard to imagine them taking a giant cyclopean monster with skeletal arms and shrinking him down into a tiny cloaked figure. The physical proportions just do not line up at all.

The Bad Rayman theory is interesting because of that O pendant, but I have to agree with RayGamer. The lack of a big nose and the fact that Dark Rayman is already doing the grunt work chasing you in the invaded levels pretty much rules him out as the main mastermind.

Sabertooth is probably right about what Gounon said, but maybe he meant a new villain that is an old character too?

Another idea I have is, what if it is Razorbeard? He is short, he obviously has metal claws, and to take his revenge it would make sense for him to hide in the shadows and spread corruption across the Glade. Since they are already trying to cram references to the older games into this new map, maybe it's a way to build up for Razorbeard's return...

(Also, regarding that AI tweet Droolie brought up... I am totally with Hunchman on this one. With how glossy, generic, and soulless that new Betilla redesign looks, I would not be shocked at all if Ubisoft used AI during pre-production and is just doing damage control now.)

His height also seems consistent with that of a Teensie, meaning he could be the Dark Teensie "Magician" from Rayman Origins, but surely, RayGamer's argument about Bad Rayman's nose also applies to a Teensie, right? :fou2:

I wonder if they'll bring Christian Erickson back to voice Jano.

It appears Rayman Legends Retold got its own bit in the Future Games Show. Here are some things I found interesting in it:
I think it will be, for new fans, a starting point. You discover Rayman for the very first time with voice acting, with storytelling, with a bit more stakes, with a villain. For fans, I think it's some more of a canon version of the world of Rayman that you will rediscover, and that will serve as a basis for the future. So I think that it could serve both for a new audience and returning Rayman fans.
So as we all expected, Retold is indeed meant to set a new standard for the franchise and act as a more cohesive and "canon" version of Legends.
The early conversation we had was "what's the best way to bring back the franchise with the best possible team..."
So you're telling me that they had a meeting about how they should bring back Rayman, and no one in that room gave the answer "A NEW GAME?"
The intention of the sixth world, it came from a will also to have a new tonality and a new side-scroller gameplay that were a bit on the more difficult side. And then as we're thinking about the narration, essentially introducing a new villain for the IP, that's how it led us to the theme of corruption. That villain that you will see in the trailer, and that guy basically is corrupting all the bosses but also has took entire control of the World of the Dead. And so basically [...] you need to go in the World of the Dead and to survive there, you will use that new ability, the power of light, to face enemies and obstacles.
So there's a bit more info about the new villain and the Land of the Livid Dead. Considering his words "introducing a new villain to the IP," I guess that means this probably isn't Jano or Bad Rayman and is indeed a brand new villain. I suspected that he was controlling the bosses, but I didn't know that he had also taken over the LotLD. Still not sure what this "power of light" is supposed to do, but I guess that's for us to find out in the final game?

I think we can all agree that as of early June 2026, from all the teased levels, the new music level ''Don't Touch This'' (based of U Can't Touch This by MC Hammer) is the best level by far!

That is a really fun idea, but the new villain is explicitly described as someone who wields dark magic to spread corruption, and Razorbeard is a mechanical space pirate. His whole thing is using machinery, warships, and robotic minions to take over the Glade. I just cannot picture him suddenly casting magic spells out of nowhere. It would be a pretty massive and strange character change for him.

Yes! I have looped the mere 30 seconds of footage we have of it. My brain is itching to perfect that level, it's such a fun rendition.

Agreed. That would make absolutely no sense. They've stated that this guy is a brand-new villain, no call back to any previous games, and to my knowledge no villain has done what this guy does before in the Rayman series, so we'll have to wait and see.
